Nate is having it large after tearing the Bompey Massif a new one in the recent El Coastico meeting in the last game before some stupid international matches allowed Liverpool an opportunity to tap up Xavi Ward-Prowse.

    Did you know...Top facts

    1. Burnley's badge was the result of Blue Peter running a competition for children aged 7-12 to design a badge within Minecraft.

    2. They were formed in 1882, and were one of the first to become professional, and subsequently put pressure on the Football Association to permit payments to players. Apparently they havent paid a dime higher in wages since.

    3. Burnley’s 30-match unbeaten run in 1921 stood as the longest stretch without a defeat in league history until Arsenal bettered it during the 2004/05 campaign. We tried hard to emulate this in reverse prior to the recent victory over Sheffield Utd.

    4. The Clarets are only one of three teams to have won all four divisional titles, along with Wolves and Preston North End. The only title on offer for one of these clubs this season is the FA Cup. And we're ****ing winning that one.

    5. Burnley’s first major honour came in 1914 when they beat Liverpool in the last final to be played at Crystal Palace. The cup final was historic in that King George V became the first reigning monarch to present the cup to the winning captain. Looking forward to Liz presenting ours in May.

On to the game in hand - I wasnt confident at all until I started this thread, now i think we will go on to beat Burnley's 30 match unbeaten run set in 1921 - 100 years on and all that.

Enjoy the game, no bickering and calling for Ralph's head on a stick if we dont win...

I hope I'm wrong but this game has a "Kevin Friend" or "Graham Scott" appointment written all over it.

Apparently James Ward-Prowse has made 1,894 completed passes this season, putting him 6th in the Premier League.

Which equates to a completed pass every 1.38 mins he is on the pitch.....

Doesn’t sound so impressive if you put it like that.

He has has 2,424 touches though, the lucky chap.

I thought it was impressive like that - for every 1.38 minutes of a game he is contributing a completed pass. He definitely doesn’t get lost in a game.

In other words, he is positively active for about ⅔ of the game.

I really like Burnley as a club. Proper club, with its support being local and/or with a genuine link to the place. Presumably Jay will be visiting on Sunday. Delighted that he has gone back home and a Burnley lad I know tells me he's playing well again. He looked to have lost it after his injury.

BUT, I hope he has 'mare on Sunday, three of their players are sent off in the first ten minutes and their goalkeeper gets fed up and decides to throw the game. Alternatively, we might play well and win, but we have almost forgotten how to that in the league so we need a plan B.

    1-1 and that'll be OK

One commentator (watching a game not involving Saints) said...as the ball was being placed for a free kick...You won't score from there, unless your name is James Ward-Prowse <laugh>

Yep Nov 77 to Dec 78 Forest went 42 games in all competitions unbeaten including a 0-0 away to Saints.

Don't know how that got missed from the stats, maybe they couldn't see the wood for the trees (forest) (coat) (taxi)

When you say a Jim Diamond moment I take it that you mean 'I should have known better' rather than 'Remember I love you' <hug>

Good chance of a win but in recent years we’ve struggled against Burnley. I’d probably take a point if you offered it to me now.

Complete ignorance on my part, combined with extreme laziness, but have all Saints' internationals come through the international break relatively unscathed and injury free?

I looked on Saints official site, so I'm aware that Minamino may play today, and JWP, Bedders, Che, Stuey and Vesty are likely to be involved in games tomorrow, but are there any current issues, that will prevent us from fielding a full-strength team (even Danny, maybe?) against Burnley?
