Can't see the league cup being his holy grail! Talk about aiming low. I reckon he'd come to us, it's just how much Levy makes that difficult/costly. Which will be very on both counts.
I think he looks for reasons to stay at Spurs and maybe finally getting silverware will add to the belief he can achieve more there. Yeh we'll have to accept we're going to get rinsed on the fee. Fck it, has to be done.
If Levy is asking £150m for Kane we would be better going for Halland. Yes, Kane knows the PL, but he seems to be made of glass at the moment. We could get Haaland for just about the same money, and probably get as many goals, but we could also name our price for him in five years time and recoup the outlay to re-invest in the next big thing - could we do that with Kane - no. Haaland's dad and the fat pig are whoring him around the big clubs as we speak so it looks like it will come down to money, pure and simple, and on those terms we are able to compete with Barca and RM (who are both strapped for cash), but not City. Rice is what we need in midfield, plus a decent, experienced CB.
I was reading that there's a real threat that Dortmund won't qualify for CL either next season which may tempt Haaland away. It won't just be the cost of the player but also the wages. The problem with out-spending others to buy a big name is that you have to question whether they're just a mercenary. We've had too many of those in recent years and the culture is changing at United. I don't think that would apply to Kane at all if he came to us.
Ole will coach them! I honestly think that it is a mistake to get in bed with Raiola. Yes, every wants Haarland, but surely, he can't be the only viable option in world of football. We need to look past the noise and spend the money getting someone reliable and without baggage. The problems that we have had with Pogba's United's career is largely due to Raiola being a fkin pig who represents mercenaries, unless if you're a larger than life player like Zlatan. Avoid Haarland!!
The badge kissers are everywhere mate. Throw enough money at Ole and he might eventually win a trophy and they’ll all claim he’s the next Fergie.
Lukaku wasn’t good enough for United. Now everyone else wants him. We continue to mismanage players at this club. This is my gripe with bringing in more players at insane cost in hope that it somehow fixes the problems. It won’t if the fundamental management structure is broken. Unless we go full on galactico, I suppose! On Lukaku - Fate is not without a sense of irony.
Lots of paper talk this morning about us having to pay off de Gea to persuade him to move on. Given the length of his contract, at a rumoured £350k per week/£18.2m per annum, that could make quite a dent in our transfer budget. I would rather get rid of Henderson and bring in stronger competition for de Gea, (Donnaruma on a free) and save the money. Win win I would have thought.
Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland could cost the club who buy him an extra 40m euros (£34m), because his agent Mino Raiola and father Alf-Inge want 20m euros (£17m) each in commission as part of the deal. (RAC1, via Marca) I honestly see a future whereby football as we know it today becomes a complete joke with Stadia half empty. When you have no rules to stop obvious corruption, the inevitable is decline.
It's well past the time that ALL the top clubs in Europe should have got together and told players He's your agent working for you, you pay him not us. He's your father, he will get a lifetime pass to every game home and away, other than that he is your responsibility. That way football may get back to some semblance of normality.
Sounds very rational, Diego. Too rational if we consider the amount of corruption in football. People like Raiola exist as a direct result of that corruption. Sadly, they are not the cause of it. I think GlazerF brought up the point that UEFA is all of a sudden scrapping the financial fair play rule after the two Spanish clubs got saddled with high levels of debt that would have meant they would not be able to compete for top players. UEFA is a joke!
Money seems to have lost any meaning in football. As good as Haaland is the figures being bandied about are just absurd. E40m just for the commission? United do not seem to be in the running which is completely understandable. The amounts involved will dwarf any other players. The lessons of Barcelona paying Messi nearly £500for his 4-5 year contract and virtually bankrupting the club are obviously not being learnt.
Barcelona and Real Madrid may be priced out of a deal for Borussia Dortmund and Norway striker Erling Braut Haaland. The 20-year-old wants a salary of 35m euros (£30m) a year. Latest from bbc gossip. His agent and his father are bad news! Steer clear!
Barca is a huge sporting business with revenue streams so complicated that few can unravel them - even the Spanish tax authorities. If they want to buy Haaland they will find the money, the usual ploy being to find a new sponsor (coincidentally paying the exact sum of Halland's contract) for the basketball side of the business and launder the cash through the business structure to cover the cost of the transfer and at the same time circumventing financial fair play rules - such as they are.
Let’s be honest about the finances of these clubs. PSG City Real Barcelona and even Chelsea are those clubs that will accept huge amount of losses. On the other hand, United despite being one of the biggest will not only not accept losses but have to provide funds for massive bank loan repayments as well as substantial annual dividends to the GGs. The amounts they are floating for Haaland seem completely outside what any financially responsible club could afford.
