90% of those players have been called worse than s hite mate over the last three seasons so you think by telling them they are going to be replaced at this time of the season this will make them perform better, aye righto, you seem to be on the same wavelength as Smug.
Agree with this. When you see the amounts spent by some clubs in the championship, 60 million will get you a 4 or 5 top players that you'd hope can make the step up to the next level. Be hearing that's the sort of money we're linked with is night a day to what we're used to. Great to hear.
No one has told them that, I certainly haven't suggested it and you said it was paper talk. You're arguing with yourself.
From where we were at the start of the season I'd say we have 4 or 5 better players than we did then. Johnson has improved players and produced a good team. Who knows how far the likes of O'Nien can go.
60 million to spend in the Championship? So we finally have a number of the leauge one budget Donald said Ch I agree. I do however feel the players are now playing a mix of some kind promotion bonus, a better management.
Whatever KLD and LJ are saying, and doing, it's certainly working. There comes a time when you have to trust the club, to do the right thing, and avoid criticism based entirely on media speculation ... .... that time has come in my opinion.
If they're not good enough to get us promoted, then they should know they're likely to be replaced anyway. This shouldn't affect them in a negative way in the slightest.
Even if they are good enough to get us promoted it doesn't mean they are good enough for the next stage or level mate. Sounds harsh but I have total trust in our management and like Smug says...whatever LJ is saying to them its working. At the minute!
I’m sure that the existing players will have a promotion bonus written in to their contract if they have an agent worth their salt , we are not going to get rid of all of the staff , this would not work as we couldn’t replace everyone and the players will know that . The existing players will have a twofold reason to play their hearts out to gain promotion . 1 promotion bonus 2 hope to be on the retained list with a pay rise and play at a higher level . I don’t think anyone in the current squad are going to throw away the opportunity that is their for them and the club , any indication and LJ would know and react swiftly.
It’s needed. I would argue the gap between the premier league and championship is smaller than between the championship and league one. 20 million needed to even have a shot at survival IMO. All 3 promoted clubs could go down, and if they don’t it’ll likely owe to Wednesdays points deduction. Luton and Barnsley had to have a great escape last season, Charlton went down .... 60 million would mean business. Some are saying it’s just an operations budget, but what that be this season? 20 million. It still demonstrates a fundamental change.
That equates to nearly a third of the total spend for all Champo clubs this season. I can't see us needing to spend that much to stay up. If we did spend that amount I'd expect us to be top half tbh, not just surviving. And as we have learned to our cost in the past, it isn't about how much money you spend, it's spending it well.
Bottom line is this. KLD is young, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and hungry for success. No way does he want to mess about "surviving" at the lower end of any league. He has surrounded himself in people he trusts and they know what they are doing.
£8.50and a bag of harribos I believe. If the current squad know they are playing for contracts I would like to think that they are all putting in extra to prove their worth and earn that contract on far better money than a journeyman league 1 player would get
nowt off the EFL or FA as far as i know, although the players will most likely have a bonus and possible wage increase if promoted. EDIT: just done a quick google and the only money talked about was for the pizza cup, either i asked the 'wrong' question or they keeping it quiet.
I would say we need 8 or 9 signings, including Jones and Sanderson but another winger or centre back respectively if neither materialise. The gulf is absolutely enormous now.
In 2018 the league 1 payment was 1.4 million compared to the Championships 6.8 million. Those figures include the basic payment and a solidarity payment. TV money is on top of that
