I think a team like Brighton are hard to take too far forward from where they are. Ultimately finances restrict them from adding that desired level of quality, the fact Potter is often able to outplay sides and generally make them tough to beat with the players he has is a promising sign for me, many have said in the past that if he had a 15-20 goal striker in his team they’d be far better off and I also agree with that notion. At Spurs he’d have a 30 goal a season striker should Kane stay. It’s not an appointment that’ll happen though because I think Levy will chase Nagelsmann or Rodgers but I’d personally be open for someone like Potter to come in.

Nuno is a big no for me though. If people on here already complain about Jose’s style of football then they won’t like Nuno’s much either. His time at Wolves has been good but a lot overlook the fact he’s actually had a lot of money pumped into that team for him and somewhat had a cheat code with the Mendes involvement, he more or less had a Premier League team in the Championship, added some more quality when they came up, and they’re probably about where they should be, I don’t think he’s helped them excel or anything and I don’t overly enjoy watching his team either.

Nuno is a no for me too. He’s good but I don’t think he’s the man for us, purely stylistically if nothing else. Potter is also a no, I admire his work at Brighton but I’m just not sure about him stepping up.

Of the other managers in the Prem outside the big 2 of Pep and Klopp, Hassenhuttel gets talked about a lot but I don’t think he’s at the level Poch was when he came to us. I’d worry about inconsistency with him. I’m not sure Rodgers would jump ship from Leicester unless he thinks they’ve reached their ceiling and though I’d have to swallow a pill and admit that he’s changed my mind since his move there from Celtic, I’d still rather nick their scouting team than their manager if it was possible! Nobody else springs to mind as desirable right now (though I wouldn’t be surprised to see us look at Scotty Parker further down the line).

Ultimately though we moan about the squad we have, we should look for a manager who will play to its strengths with one or two additions rather than someone who needs a complete overhaul of the starting XI (to play 3 at the back, for example). We have a couple of young, quick CBs, a midfield that would look better playing a high tempo, high energy game rather than sitting in, and a pretty lethal forward line. I can’t say I’m an expert but from what I know, Nagelsmann fits that bill and I’d be on board with him being given a window or two to sort things out before expecting him to match peak Poch.

Yeah Allegri would feel more of a risk now than 2 years ago no doubt but I still think he’s one of the upper tier managers in world football and if the club was wanting to bring in another high profile manager to replace Jose more so than taking a punt on a younger one, then I think he’d fit the bill. Players like Kane/ Son would probably be more intrigued to work with a serial winner than someone with something still to prove in the game.

Nagelsmann remains my preferred choice though, I think he’s got a very promising managerial career ahead of him, it still represents a risk as he is still relatively unproven but based on how well he done at Hoffenheim and how he’s doing at Leipzig, I think he’s the type of manager that fans would enjoy having at the club. I also think that despite not being a serial winner, he’d still be someone Kane and co might fancy working under.

Have you not heard the weird story about Bielsa scouting Pochettino when he was asleep?

Yeah I agree about Nahelsmann, as I sad to Bri, he’s my preferred choice and despite the fact he’s been linked with bigger clubs I actually think we could get him. His appointment could also massively aid our chase for Sabitzer as well. Leipzig probably won’t like us for that but to quote the scarves on football stalls out in Dortmund a couple years back “**** RB Leipzig!”.

He was the coach of the reserves at Newell's Old Boys and heard about Pochettino being a promising youngster in Murphy.
Turned up to his house with his assistant at 2am, when the 13-year-old was in bed, where you'd expect him to be.
Persuaded his mother to take them to his room and show them his legs. Declared they were "footballer's legs" and told them to send him to training! <laugh>

Pochettino told the follow-up story on Sky a while ago.
Showed up and there was a training game about to start. Bielsa told him to get ready to play as a striker.
Pochettino said that he was a defender, but he played everywhere back home because he was the best player.
Got played for five minutes, taken off and told to go back home and tell his dad that he was signing for the club.

I take it you've heard the one about them at... I think it was Espanyol?
Pochettino got called to his office at the end of the season, having been praised heavily in the media and called up to the national team.
Bielsa asked him how he thought he'd done that year. He thought he'd been great, but played it down a bit to his mentor.
Got told that he'd been **** and had his mistakes listed out for him. If he didn't improve then he'd be out.
Went to his car and had a cry, then realised that it was true and he could get a lot better.

Bielsa's an utter fruit loop but you can't help but admire him regardless of who you support.

One of the pioneers of pressing football.

    Long live, El Loco!

I'm most impressed by his ability to squat endlessly. No idea why he does it, though.

And now the MouAnon conspiracy theorists are mad at The Pathetic for publishing an article suggesting that he isn't setting up the team to get the best out of the players available

True, it did have one hell of a clickbaity headline which does deserve to be criticised, but that's all they focused on while ignoring the meat of the article that suggested things such as Davinson Sanchez is a much better CB when on the front foot or that if we can't control games in midfield we shouldn't play on the counter because we definitely won't be controlling games in midfield doing that

He’s got Leeds back in the PL and they’re doing well.
    But it’s heart attack football.
    He’s no George Graham.

So the DFB may have thrown a spanner in the works as the suggestion is they want Hansi Flick to replace Joachim Low after the Euros, meaning that Baveria Munchen will be on the lookout for a new manager

And guess why I'm posting that on a Spurs board...

Have to say i was staggered by the naivety of the RB Leipzig game plan against us in the recent CL tie . Considering the rep Nagelsmann has garnered it seemed odd that he seemed to think playing a high line was the best tactic against us , despite all the evidence , leading to us comfortably winning the tie despite being in our worst run of form for years .

Managers will have good and bad games though, to define a manager based on one game would be naive of us. Jose saw us tank Utd 6-1 at Old Trafford and has beaten City twice in three matches since he’s been here, yet overall he’s been a very poor appointment.

Poch had a tendency to **** up spectacularly in big matches too but overall was a great appointment for the most part.
