The squad that's travelled for this one is De Gea, Henderson, Grant, Bishop, Lindelöf, Maguire, Shaw, Telles, Tuanzebe, Wan-Bissaka, Williams, Amad, Bruno Fernandes, Fred, James, Mata, Matić, McTominay, Pogba, Van de Beek, Cavani, Elanga, Greenwood, Rashford. No Bailly I see. No James either. And 4 GK's We have Tottenham on Sunday who have a full week because they're out of the Europy. So I say put out our best team, get a couple of away goals and then take off key players ready for Sunday. I'd start Greenwood up front, another goal or two would do his form the world of good. Maybe start Amad for this one as well? De Gea AWB - Lindelof - Maguire - Shaw McTominay - Pogba Amad - Fernandes - Rashford Greenwood I have nothing really to say about Granada except they're ****, and they have Soldado. They've conceded 49 goals in La Liga, the worst of any side. Anyway enjoy...
I think he's going to play all 4 with Fred and McTominay in front. Just to be safe against the mighty Granada
I want to see Greenwood start in front. The boy has incredible talent but needs to be starting games. Honestly, if you gave me the option between buying Haarland and all the baggage that comes with him versus giving Greenwood consistent time as a striker, I’d take the later. Young players with enough experience need first team opportunities to develop their game further. Greenwood is a player that deserves that in my opinion.
Granada are a physical, tough side. They are crap though, the Spanish equivalent of Cristal Palace I'd say, but they are capable of putting up a decent fight.
Aye they've not been too bad at home but even the home form has gone to pot over recent weeks. I spotted an error in my earlier post. James has travelled. We may not have Rashford, and without Martial that means James or Pogba could be playing on the left? I'm looking forward to this, please don't let it be a damp squib.
I'd like to think the idea is getting some early goals and then rest one or two. It's certainly a team that should be capable if that. It's a refreshing change from the usual cautious start, then chase the game when we're a couple down!
8 mins gone and we're under the kosh. Pogba booked. I long for the days when teams knew they were in for an onslaught in the first 15 mins.
Other than the route 1 goal, that first half was utter dogshit. What I don't understand and maybe I'm missing something here but if you're relying on counter attack, when you get the ball shouldn't you be trying to get it to your front men BEFORE the oppo can get back? We seem to pass it forward, and then that player passes it back lol and all our players neatly set up in midfield again and the oppo players all return and set up a defence. Happened every time
I'm not criticising the scoreline. We scored from a route 1 goal. Goal kick to Rashford and scores. Once again, something out of nothing. Then a fortuitous pen in the 86th min which the goalie fluffed. The rest of the game we were pinned back. It was only their lack of quality up front that saved us. As soon as we come up against a decent side, we're out. Much like every cup competition over the past 2 seasons.
Yeh I think we may have lucked out there but I still wouldn't rule them out especially the way we scraped past Milan. If we were on the other side of the draw meeting Villareal we'd be fcked. It's just tragic football mate, week in week out. We have some very good players and he can't get the best out of the them.
Yeh we really should. Unai Emery's doing well atm and he loves this comp so I think it has to be between us and Villareal.
