Footballs a funny old game isn’t it.....Routs had a blinder as did Ayew and Lowe apart from the rest of them. Can we carry on like this?

There was an air of confidence today , the little flicks , movement , going forward with the ball ,our press was good and high , snapping into tackles, everything which has been missing recently . Credit to the management team ,somehow Coopers & Co much have switched on something as a collective with the players ,they looked so much better

Personally, I wonder if the difference and improvement from the Preston match is that the squad actually had time to work on the new formation - whereas there was little or no practice between the Birmingham and Preston games?

Cometh the hour cometh the man and Routledge proved that what he’s lost in speed, his footballing brain and ‘touch’ are still there.

Everyone can agree on that today, absolute class and gelled the attack. The intent to go forward with some intensity and not back pass was obvious today.

Certainly very probable/possible that time to implement played it’s part. Could’ve been the right team to face, at the right time too. What we can’t fail to see is, that whatever occurred, we became a unit again during one match. We created the space to have time on the ball. There was always a pass on, because of the movement & the players being closer together as a force. There was no huge gaps between the midfield and the front three. We pushed forward together and defended together. This brought everyone into play. No one then consequently, had a lesser or below par performance. The defence, after a scary first 10, looked as one again. As much as I love wing-backs, I enjoyed just seeing good old fashioned full-back play. Both of them did it well, Manning got forward a bit more, but I liked the performance of Naughton. Think we eventually created the foundation to press & knock Millwall off their early match stride. That then set the tone for the rest of the match. Fulton was a different player again, Ayew was so menacing & for me, Hourihane had his best ‘open play’ match since arriving. Jamal worked hard & I’m chuffed he got his just rewards, with a MoM performance too.

Then there’s Routledge - he was class, gelled it all together. He loves the club..
