Actually I reckon that's the worst game I've seen Johansen have for us. I really like him, but he kept giving the ball away today. I suppose Dykes should get MOTM for his two goals and a good display, but I'd give it marginally to Willock, who had a superb game. He's looking more effective than Chair imo.
17 conceded in 18 league games for the calendar year I think and a lot of those had Cameron shuffling around back there.
Just saw the 1st half and thought we might struggle to get anything as we looked a bit vulnerable at times so this result was a pleasant surprise. Glad to see Dykes has really found some form. We even managed to level our goal difference, happy days indeed...
Well done the team and Warburton. Another good win with good determination shown. Delighted for Dykes and Willock, both did really well. There were other good performances from Barbet, Dickie, Adomah amongst others. Happy Saturday
The fourth goal was sublime. There is a very good team in there waiting to get out.. I hope the board can see it
Really enjoyed the game. Apart from the aberration for their goal, it was a determined, assured performance. Good to see some Austin stardust has transferred to Dykes. Agree, Willock looks a quality player. Richard Langley-esque? Beating Wednesday 3 goals to 1 reminds me of the memorable spring day at Hillsborough when we levered ourselves from third tier. I floated back down the M1!
Really pleasing to watch. Nice to play better and have it shown with the scoreline. Just a thought on Austin's absence. He is clearly a good goalscorer. During his first spell with us, he scored 45 in just over 80 games, but that was when he was between 24 and 27 years old. He's come back, and it seems whenever he plays our plan revolves around getting him into a position from which he can score, but he is that little bit older now, and potentially not able to consistently get into the goal scoring positions as naturally and easily. I think I only thought of it, as he wasn't in the team today, and we had 3 different scorers, and scored 4. Don't get me wrong, I'll have him back in the team in a heartbeat, but it is interesting to note.
Not that there was much doubt but that win sees us mathematically safe with six games to go. There's a balance now between blooding younger players and finishing as high as we can which is good for the owners. Great weekend.
I'm not sure what his goals to games ratio is since he's been back, but I'm guessing it's not too shabby.
Oh, ****! No I got a phone call with 8 minutes to go. Still, pleased I was wrong. Teach me to make assumptions!
I think they can. Now that Fernandes has been told to sit on the naughty step and stop indulging his fantasy that he is a born entrepreneur we are thankfully far better off than many other clubs in the Championship, Slowly but surely we are reaping the benefit of a lot of hard work by looking at managers as long-term investments, someone to develop and build a team rather than buy a new one each year. We all know, including Warburton, what still needs to be done and where the weak links are. Who would have guessed that in spite of parting company with Eze and our other goal scorers last season we would actually improve our position this.
It's alright. If you've reached that age where you have a little nap in the afternoon you can tell us. We've all done it.
That's right, rub it in I actually taped the match so I've just seen it. You're right, really good goal.
