I hate to admit it, but it’s about time he was benched and we gave Stewart a run out. He cost us three points yesterday imo by trying to be clever and trying to chip the keeper instead of putting his foot through it. I’m not quite sure where he’s got this new found arrogance from, but he needs to realise he’s not Mbappe yet ffs. He knows he’s away in the summer and his heads gone, you can see it a mile off.

I thought Wyke ran his heart out tbh, which says to me that his head certainly hasn’t gone. He’s not displaying a lack of effort and (for me) remains the best we currently have in his position.
If his chip had been a few inches higher it would have been in and we would have been talking about how well he’d taken the chance but Instead the keeper pulled off a top save.
    Fine margins no?

    Wonderful save from the keeper.
Dropping a 25 goal striker for a new player who is still settling in is not a good idea.
We definitely need a striker alongside Wyke though.
I wonder if O’Nein fancies the job. :emoticon-0103-cool:

what was it, specifically about yesterday’s performance, that suggests to you that his ‘heads gone’?
I couldn’t fault his effort and let’s not forget that the attempted chip came from a chance he created for himself...

Wyke's been in very good form this season but let's not forget, his form for the two previous seasons was not good at all. A dip in form was almost inevitable. Its now up to Johnson, the manager who has got the most from him at Sunderland, to coax more out of him. Playing through a bad spell may well, therefore, be the best thing for him. I don't see many obvious alternatives in our squad. Stewart has not done anything to make me think he is the answer although, of course, that might change if he's given more of a chance.

Let’s face it he’s still ****ing ****e. One purple patch of scoring goals doesn’t change that.

He’s not ****e mate, but he’s not great is he. If (big if) we go up, he needs replacing sharpish.

Trying to be cocky when he was one on one, in a massive game like that, suggests he couldn’t give a ****.

The same as Jones was cockey with his chip that was a great goal?
As I said, three inches higher, it’s in and we’d be raving about him.
    Fine margins mate

Needs replacing regardless. Not getting promoted with him upfront. The last few weeks have been the exception not the rule. In January people would have rightfully said he’s one of the worst strikers to have ever played for the club.

I agree mate. When has a bad game we honestly might as well play with ten men. At least Stewart’s puts himself about a bit.

Need a striker with pace to play off Stewart. We need to build a team that will get over 100 points next season. No excuses this time. Wyke can stay as a bit part player at most.

Jones has the quality to do it though, completely different. We were also winning that game already.

We haven’t had pace upfront for about ten years mate, mental really. Wyke will be off in the summer. He’s had one good season and now thinks he’s Harry Kane.

With a few games to go to bench a 25 goal striker would be idiotic. I don't know LJ but he doesn't come across as an idiot. I would imagine he will play Wyke until the end of this season. What happens with him after that...who knows, but until then he our top scorer and the 2nd highest scorer in this league.

It’s a freak though, you’d be more surprised if he scored another 3 goals this season than him inevitably not scoring another goal. Teams just stop McGeady now and that stops Wyke. It will be a fifth season in league one if we think we can get promoted with that lump upfront.
