Just woke to see the score. Great result, love it! Well played team. Up to 11th and above Stoke, even better.
Don't beat yourselves up over it. He was poor today, but you aren't the first to suggest he is a good player; https://www.not606.com/threads/jordan-rhodes.114106/#post-2013765
Defensively we looked all over the place for their goal, and pretty chaotic at times today. De Wijs has done well but the back 3 look more organised as a unit when Cameron plays in the middle back there to me.
Jordy de Wijs has made five appearances for QPR. 4 wins and one draw. Unbeaten. Would be a good signing if he can stay fit and a good age at 26.
Not to worry. We all get swept along and say some howlers on here. Perhaps it's a time for a 'confessional box' thread where we can all repent of the times when we've lost faith in the team, the manager or individual players often to regain it over the length of the matchday thread. At times, when we win unexpectedly, well or from a bad start it is amusing to watch how posters' moods change. At others you can see exactly why the owners only care about the next result or two. Lyndon Dykes is a classic example. "Very promising/intelligent" "hard worker" "puts in a shift" "a real find" to "what a waste of money/space" "couldn't hit a barn door" "my drunken granny could have scored that" "why won't W drop him?" "Can we send him back, get a refund and buy a real striker instead?" And just to confirm we all dread the Sky cameras because we all know what will happen. No. No. No. Beth will now take a vow of silence as her sin is almost as great as those anti vaxxers who jump on the handful of clots from the 20 million or so vaccinations with AZ to justify their refusal to take it.
I apologize but my big sin, was getting my facts wrong...and had forgotten our "on sky" win against Watford....so we are now 2 from 2. I love us playing on Sky now.
In all fairness Stroller I was critical of Dykes because we paid good money for him and has been crap for most of his time and not scoring goals. He has been better of late and like all QPR fans we want him to get better. All fans have made comments about various players and have been wrong.
It’s a tough league and everyone wants instant results, from the team and new players. It takes time to adapt - more so for some than others. Warburton seems to bring them along and see that - Dickie is a good example. I hope Dykes comes good - for us and himself - in the same way. It’s a shame when fans jump all over players who find it difficult initially, and of course coupled with social media can eat away at anyone’s confidence. But we all have our moments!
A great win and very open game. I thought we may struggle as possibly more important for Wednesday but glad I was wrong but could quite easily been 4-4. Lovely to see more goals going in but were more than fortunate to only concede one. What I have noticed in the last say 20 games is a bit more luck.....opposition strikers actually missing opportunities, (a la Rhodes yesterday) players not scoring their one goal a season with a thirty yarder against us. Is it that not only we have a good keeper but a lucky one?!!....is the third against forest his only mistake,( Reading dubious) but sometimes a good keeper can certainly give confidence to the team but also calm. For the last 2/3 seasons we've often outplayed the opposition and they've scored with their one shot on target grabbing an unfair point or win. Maybe we are better organised, but yesterday Reach and Windass cut through at times but I felt we wouldn't concede again. If they go down I'd be after those two....we have a Bannan in Johansen who is priceless in my eyes and has to stay. Scott Parker is a fool!!!! Dykes is doing well but let's not go overboard and hopefully loads to come.
Exactly. The new pre-Sky match mantra.. We will win. Next season? Perhaps a new one. We we won't be millionaires but we will win more than one Cup game. r Have I have overstepped my ration of positivity and need to return to the real world?
Reach, Windass and Bannan 3 players who should not be in a relegation threatened team. Reach and Windass are 27/28, Bannan even older....so not really the sort of player we are looking for . As a fringe player I am perfering Adomeh to Reach anyhow. If we can keep Johansen I would prefer him to Bannan too. Mowatt from Barnsley is who I would like, but doubt we would get him now, especially if they go up
****in hell that's some statement Oslo. This team is actually looking like a team without Cameron. De Wijs, despite his lack of match time looks ten times the player. Johansen didn't have his most effective game today but luckily Willock did. Another player who can find pockets of space and really holds the ball up for those vital seconds, enabling Roberto Wallace and Co to push up. It's great to see 4 goals fly in. It's great to see Dykes bagging, his work rate deserves some rewards. I agree with Col, I would love to see a new right wing back come in. Signing Field would be one of my biggest priorities for next season. A steady, young player who will only get better. I honestly can only see De Wijs signing as the other loans will get offered better deals elsewhere, even at their parent clubs should they go down.
Thinking back to yesterday's game, our defensive shape was dodgy as **** in a number of moments. We need to sort that out before next game. I feel like our wingbacks over committed quite a few times yesterday and were caught out, more so on Kakay's side. We'd have been punished against a team that had their game in order. I know this will be an unpopular opinion, considering how much people like De Wijs (I like him too), but I actually really like Cameron in the middle of the back three. He is really experienced and intelligent. Barbet has been off the boil recently, and so maybe De Wijs could take his slot. However, it's good what we have a couple of backup players for a change. Masterson didn't go out on loan, right?
I think though if we had stats showing the number of goals conceded since we changed to a back 3 around last December, with Cameron in that 3, and the games he wasnt, they'd show we conceded fewer goals with Cameron in there, than when he was out. I couldn't find that information easily, so I don't know for sure. Just think we look better organised when he plays getting the line straight, moving together, getting the set up right etc. But I agree de Wijs would be a good signing if he stays fit. Cameron won't be able to play regularly too much longer.
Masterson is on loan at Swindon Town. Bizarre that you like Cameron, I think he is slow, awkward and clumsy. Gives the ball away far too often in deep defensive positions and regularly loses his man. He is however brilliant at deflecting the blame on everyone around him. All about opinions I guess
Agree with most of that, except about Barbet who continues to offset his occasional lapses in defense with great passes like the 1st one for Dykes yesterday. Masterson went on loan, to Swindon I think it was, but got injured and still is I believe.
I remember seeing him beautifully control the ball and get out of pressure a number of times. Yes, he is slow... which is why I would never play him in midfield now. But pace isn't as important in the middle of the back three. To be honest, I think he's no slower than De Wijs, who seems to be pretty slow too. I like Barbet. I was just wondering about how to fit De Wijs if Cameron came back in. But, as I said, I like that we have a couple of options.
