Any Tv aficionado’s on here? Am looking to upgrade 3 TVs. Not wanting to spend thousands on 1 tv. Was thinking 55’ for the sitting room. 43’ for the lounge then maybe 49’ for the wall in the kitchen. Maybe this one in different sizes?? I have not bought a new tv since 2014 and am not overly techie with this stuff so any help will be greatly appreciated as to what’s the best for a reasonable price. LG Samsung. Or Sony ideally. https://www.currys.co.uk/gbuk/tv-an...ed-tv-with-google-assistant-10204790-pdt.html
I’ve got the older version of that Sony 55” without the google assistant ****. It’s brilliant can defo recommend.
As I was saying to you (Sweats) on the other thread, Sony always had a good reputation, but I didn't know how that had progressed in the digital age as the market got flooded by cheap products, Going by what Tobes has said from his experience they appear to still be a reliable brand, and for £599, you'd have been lucky to buy a 20' standard Sony back in the day for that price. I've had Samsung both LCD and LED, and although the latter is better, the picture was never worth the price tag, despite the size (55'). If something is promising me high quality HD that's what I want to get, and I've yet to see a Samsung that delivers on that but I'm fussy. Oh and be careful when looking at a screen in a showroom, they will probably be set to some demo mode. What you see, might not be what you get.
My mate is a real techno head, researches all things electrical, I'm the opposite, so just buy what he does, always Panasonic for TV's and never gone wrong with them.
Sony is still the benchmark imo. I bought the 55” to replace a slightly smaller Sony one (47” I think) that I’ve now stuck in the bedroom. I’ve had Samsung & LG (still got a Samsung) but for me the Sony’s **** all over them in terms of picture quality.
Interesting as the LG nanotechnology one looked amazing picture quality. Am going to go back up there either tomorrow or Thursday as am working away Wednesday. Staying in Bolton.
It’s a while since I shopped for one tbh mate, so I can’t pass comment on the latest LG’s. What I find with the Sony 4K HDR’s is that they take normal HD broadcasts to a different level.
In the early days LG started out by providing the chipsets to the majority of the industry, bar Samsung I believe. They have always been at the forefront of this technology. The nanocell technology is another step forward and IMO, I wouldn’t look at anything other than an LG. A couple of people I know have had lip syncing problems with Samsung.
I got a 55 hisense in the living room, and it's spot on... for the bedroom i got a cheapie 50 polaroid from asda. i got 20%of it at the time, and it does the job, great picture and so easy to set up. All tvs are good these days, but people spend 1000s on the latest fashions.
As you know, if you remember when I told you years back, I spent over a grand on a tv, big mistake, one I'm not likely to repeat. I don't know anything about the hisense brand so just looked it up, interesting read, because they've bought stakes in loads of well known brands, Toshiba: On 15 November 2017, Hisense reached a $114 million deal to acquire a 95% stake of Toshiba Visual Solutions. It's Chinese but so is my phone (Honor 10 Lite) and I've had no complaints with it.

Panny and Sony for me. I'm still running a 15 year old panny 42 inch plasma 720p, still looks great. If you're buying oled consider LG, well, all the panels are LG, other companies buy the panels and add their software. Guess it comes down to price/what you want from a telly. I'm currently watching a 1080p 10 year old panny plasma and it's still great. Most content is still at best 1080p and it handles the lower quality output really well. The problem with 4k tellys is most of them handle lower quality broadcasts really badly so if you're not watching 4k all of the time you're gonna be disappointed. Consider qled as an alternative to oled.
