Ashley in ditching loss making club shops shocker. The shops were owned by his retail group, and what should have happened is that any new owners of the football club TUPE’d the staff over and took over the shops when a takeover completes. Sounds like he can’t be arsed carrying losses and so he’s sacked them off.
Staff were sent a letter, an excerpt of which reads: “As confirmed in the announcement due to the anticipated transfer of ownership of the club, it has been confirmed the new owners are not looking to TUPE any of the current employers over to the new owners of Newcastle Football Club.”
TUPE isn’t a choice though, if those shops are to continue to operate as NUFC merchandising outlets, a change of ownership shouldn’t affect the right of TUPE for the people who work there. That’s literally what TUPE is for.
Ashley laying staff off at a time the demand for NUFC shirts to dip in dirty oil to protest about a Middle East TO? Hmmmm I will put the cans in the bin, it’s been over 12 months FFS.
Sums up Newcastle really, the need to have the club run by super rich powerful criminals who order killings. Surprised they’re not tweeting Putin to see if he’s interested in purchasing a stake in the club too.
The key is whether he's actually involved. If the legal decision is that he isn't then there's no issue
No thankfully if it goes ahead he can't have anything to do with it, so it'll mean the fans can't be tarred with that brush.
