I'd take him as 2nd choice and bump Hart down the pecking order, but not as a replacement for Lloris.
He'd improve the squad and is a home grown player who we might be able to afford...but I cannot see him as a long term replacement for Hugo...and we have desperate needs elsewhere in the squad. He should be well down a long list of priorities.
True, but if we can sell Gazzaniga and bring him in, then we'd gain some depth. The loan at Elche has been an utter waste of time though, so I can't see us getting a great fee for him.
So we're all going to pretend that rumour of signing Fellaini doesn't exist so we can go on with our days, right?
Pereira's an interesting one if West Brom go down. I think there'll be a fair bit of interest, though.
I'm wondering if we're looking at the other direction, namely teams who don't come up Michael Olise at Reading's the obvious one as his name has come up off and on since January, and if Barnsley don't come up we could strike a deal with Orlando City for Daryl Dike, while Djed Spence at Middlesbrough's name was doing the rounds last summer
Italian outlet, Corriere dello Sport, reckon Lamela is very close to joining Napoli. Apparently he held talks with Milan too. Bit out of the blue so not sure how seriously to take it. Also reports in Birmingham that Wolves may try to buy Vinicius as we won’t be taking up the buy option.
Both decisions would make sense but it'd be nice to know who's making these decisions? Yet another indication that we need a proper DoF....not Hitchen or Danny Rose.
Lo Celso is always injured and Ndombele can only manage a half of football so it wouldn’t be an issue
If a decent bid came in, I would happily sell both of them. Rarely been so disappointed by any of our signings. That they cost so much and were apparently scouted for 2 entire years is humiliating.
I'd like to see them both playing a good run of games in a system that makes sense, but there's little chance of that happening, unfortunately. Lo Celso's been crocked for most of his time at the club and Ndombele gets clogged out of games regularly. They should've been our replacements for Eriksen and Dembele, but they don't get used that way, even when they're both available.
If Lo Celso and Tanguy did not have to continually cover for the sieve that is our defense they would be more productive. Both of them seem to be the targets for opposition hatchet men and therefore pick up more injuries particularly in a season when recovery periods are routinely insufficient. For the rest of the season we should have a settled back line that understand each other and free up the rest of the team to do what that were bought for.
That’s my viewpoint on them, especially Lo Celso. They can’t seem to play well when together on the pitch either, albeit that’s only been about 10 times in nearly 2 bloody years... And I get some will blame for Jose for that and maybe he is partially at fault for his style/ tactics but when two (supposedly) creative players are starting behind Son and Kane you’ve gotta expect to see ‘something’ from them yet both massively flatter to deceive. They’ve cost us nearly £100m combined and they’ve given the output of about two £10m players that you’d pick up from a decent Championship side.
