Didn't see that coming in that manner at all. Fair play to him.

Problem Benn has after tonight is that he isn't high enough in any of the rankings to warrant a title shot and after that performance none of the fighters above him will want anything to do with him.

The money just isn't there to tempt a Kell Brook or an Amir Khan into a fight.

Unless matchroom really back him and spend serious cash to tempt someone over I suspect Benn will be fighting for lesser titles like the European belt to try and rank up a bit more. It might be that he stagnated or even steps backwards in opponent quality for a year or 18 months.

Eddie won't be happy with him knocking Vargas out so quickly. It's bad for business.

I’d love to see him spark Khan, and I think they could spin a good money fight out if, but there’s no way Khan takes it imo, unless he’s wanting a last retirement cheque.

Khan has moved in to the media and has his own TV show now. It would take a huge offer to get Khan as he surely knows he is getting a beating. Kell Brook would be more willing I reckon and is higher ranked but I'm not sure he can get down to welterweight anymore.

The welterweight division is stacked with Terence Crawford, Erroll Spence, the two Garcia fighters, Shawn Porter and even Kavilauskas. Add in the names of Broner, Brook and there are some big names. The positive thing is that all of those mentioned are the wrong side of 30. If Benn can go off and win the European belt and then a Broner/Brook/Khan bout later in the year those fighters are another year older.

The real danger for Benn is the 23 year old Americans Vergil Ortiz and Jaron Ennis who are both knock out artists. They will be the big money fights in years to come if everything goes smoothly.

If the ref was feeling really generous, then he could've given Vargas a count just before the stoppage for the ropes holding him up.
Very difficult to argue with the decision though, as he took about 20 unanswered punches to the face in a row.
Some great shots in there, too.

I liked his post fight interview tbh, yeah it was a bit cocky and brash, but so reminiscent of his old man, and the lad was right when he said it’s time for people to start giving him a bit more respect.

Fighters are going to dodge him now after that, no one has dispatched Vargas in that manner and it’ll be difficult to find top ranking fighters who’ll take Benn now, as he’s a no gain fight for many.

It's a very tricky passage for him. He needs to step up again, but I've no idea who is a viable opponent for him.
The top six aren't going to fight him and he's probably not ready for them, anyway.
Khan and Brook aren't going to fancy it. Anyone else is both low profile and a risk. Tricky.

Brook would take him for the money I think. It’s not a fight I’d relish tbh, as I think Benn could inflict serious damage on the current Brook and given his previous injuries I’d worry for him tbh.

There's a couple of bills that can be watched tomorrow, I think.
One in the MTK one from Bolton that will be streamed on their Youtube channel: https://boxrec.com/en/event/830078
Nothing stands out there to me.

The other is the Demetrius Andrade v Liam Williams bill from Florida on DAZN: https://boxrec.com/en/event/830189
Might be a few worthwhile bouts on there and it's on early for the US, for some reason.
The main event is due to start at 10.30pm BST. There's some suggestion that this is to avoid a clash with the Jake Paul thing.

I doubt there'll be much here, but I'll stick it up anyway.

Nearly got stopped in the first minute and hung on to survive the round. Had a much better 2nd, then got dropped by a really simple punch.
Won the third. Probably won the fourth. Andrade seems like he thinks he should just win because he's better. Doesn't want to do the work.
Could stop it with one punch though, which I don't think Williams can.

Could be a good thing in the long run once he picks a bloke who actually takes it seriously.
