That's the real issue for the PL, they know the revenues will quickly seep away from a devalued product to the new league. We may not want it, but I suspect it will happen as footie is no longer about the fans, it's all about money.

I’m with you 100% on this. When I see UEFA crying, I get very suspicious.

I understand the shortcomings of the new idea, especially the entitlement of forever playing in it and never getting relegated. But the crazy outcry about “greed” is fascinating to see. UEFA wants lateral control. Why should they get lateral control when they themselves are riddled with corruption?

Also, why is everyone pretending as though football is for “love” of the fans? This is obviously far from the reality of the modern game which is all about money, money and more money and the fans are simply means to that end. Even the players and their knty agents take advantage of the money game.

If UEFA can’t even control small matter of what agents are doing to the game extorting money from clubs, they should perhaps simply shut the fk up.

European Super League a 'spit in the face of all football lovers', says Uefa president Aleksander Ceferin

I’d punch this man in the face!!

I doubt that it would ever happen.

What are they to do? They either have to fight the new league, in which case they have to have sanctions against the clubs involved, or they howl for a while an accept it.

Let's face it, the PL needs the six clubs more than they need the PL, although, long-term, I can see the move causing serious harm to the PL and the lower leagues as the TV cash dries up. This is what the Glazers, the arse and the dippers owners have been waiting for as it will increase the value of the participating clubs considerably, our shares rose sharply today despite all the fuss.

The real pisser for fans will be when we see Manchester United v Real Madrid being played in Tokyo just top soak up those massive markets.

we were already moving away from the local community but this is on another scale. This will be a trans national league involving the richest teams of the top 5 national European leagues. The league matches will be between Barcelona and Spurs and the like. And the TV money will come from all over the world.

United has become a product to be sold, to be marketed and the competition with the triumph and glory has not only become secondary but completely irrelevant.

What I find a bit surprising is City being in favour. They are dominant in a competitive premiership, making progress in the CL. Why they prefer some uncompetitive ceremonial league is a mystery especially when the owners really do not need the money.

The whole thing is ****ing disgusting. All fans must forget their rivalry and unite to fight this. It is no exaggeration to say that the football we currently have is under attack.

Nice to see Bruno has had a small pop at the ESL idea.
One of my favourite players (Ander Herrera) has had a right go, he has a real love of the game and the outlook of a true supporter.

Just been thinking (in view of the jose sacking at spuds), does anyone think the clubs joining this ESL will have any problems recruiting players if FIFA ban them from international games and by extension maybe stopping managers from getting the players they want?

I think it will go the other way. The super league will be awash with cash and the greedy 'best' players will be drawn towards it - money talks, look at the silly money being talked about Haaland..................

I know what you mean but to a lot of players getting picked for the national team is still the pinnacle of their career.
A lot (probably most) of supporters just see internationals as a pain but conversely a lot (probably most) players see it as an honour.
Imagine being banned from playing for a team that won the World Cup.

This is UEFA’s problem in the making. They have failed at every step to ensure most of these owners act with integrity. Look at the mess of the fair play crap that effectively turned the game in money laundering scheme.

When sugar daddies can awash the game with so much money, there will come a point whereby they want maximum returns for their investments.

But what national side could possibly win anything without their top stars, or at least all those star players who are in teams affiliated with the new league.

The proposal right is not aimed at deprecating participation in domestic leagues. The ESL is proposed as a midweek game which is effectively a shot at UEFA. This is why UEFA is screaming to hell about this because it would render the Champions League useless.

My thinking is that for the national leagues, the cup games will for sure take a hit because the teams in the ESL will further downgrade the need to participate in them.

This may not work out right this very moment, but the writing is clearly on the wall that it will eventually happen as the dominate teams look to consolidate their share of the market from money that something like ESL would generate.

As for UEFA and FIFA, they continue to jam the schedules with pointless competitions that ultimately requires players play way too many useless games to satisfy the coffers of those nasty and corruption organization. Take the example of FIFA club World Cup, does anyone watch that crap? There’s also UEFA Nations Cup that I don’t understand. Football outside of the domestic league and the other two major global events in general has become a charade because of what FIFA and UEFA are accusing ESL of doing. Endless greed!

Imagine if UEFA ban the ESL teams from the CL. On Wednesday night on BT Sport you have the CL QF between Aston Villa and Rennes and on the other side, on Sky, you have Barca v Manchester United in the ESL......... the CL TV audience, and with it their advertising revenues, will collapse overnight. Don't listen to the hysteria about grass roots football etc etc, that is what it's all about
