Best case scenario is a billionaire sheik that wants it as a play thing esther than for money making like Man City have. Don't like it, rather it be fan owned but that's never going to happen.
Am I wrong or have the english scabbed on the 6 european snakes? It seems the european snakes have held together long enough to issue a statement. Does this show that the voting structure of the prem scared city and the chelsea into blinking first?
As Saint alluded to, where are we going to find an ethical billionaire to run this club who has the fans at the forefront, and maximising value at the bottom? We simply aren’t. Either we are run by a state, who have limitless funds and don’t give a sh*t or we are run by fans (Barca are owned 100% by their socios and that hasn’t turned out well). I think FSG are here to stay and they will always look to find ways of generating revenue. We just have to accept our position - we are a sell to buy club, and will struggle to topple the financial giants of football unless fsg invest their own money (which won’t happen). Things will become more interesting if we miss out on top 4 as well.
We need neither. Float the thing on the stock market and let all and sundry buy it. Let the banks and pension funds or who ever run it for pure profit and be done with it. Force all clubs to do likewise then the minority stakeholder qatar can decide what to do with its brand.
The whole footballing community came together to tackle an issue within 48 hours. This is a lesson that changes can be made when we all stick together but it also shows that people pick and choose their fights. I cannot stand the praise lavished to the likes of Sky, FIFA etc. These people are part of the the big problem and have been for decades.
No cos any utd are floated in the usa and the majority shareholder are glaziers. It's obvious that man utd should be on the uk stockmarket subject to uk rule and ot hidden behind 20 different cut outs.
Nah mate. Sorry but this whole football community bullshit is was over egged. 12 clubs flew a.kite saw a bit of resistance and panicked. The whole football community is as divided as ever.
And it’s funny because whilst all this was unfolding, the CL proposed a new format which is almost the same as the super league, UEFA have secured another 4-5bn in funding to give to clubs, and opening up spaces for the elite clubs who didn’t qualify. It sounds like the 12 founders of the SL ultimately got what they want ...
We literally had all fans, football authorities, media and governments united to fight this. Bunch of hypocrites mind you, but still united albeit for 48 hours. now we go back to being divided
Wonder if he ironically chose to sit in that position; backed into a corner! Nothing more than lip service to try and save the wreckage.
Henry has been forced into this grovelling and insincere apology. It is not genuine because it never entered his mind to say sorry in his original statement. He probably lamented the loss of these millions. But then he saw the statements of Arsenal and Spurs with their apologies and the condemnation of many for not saying sorry and that he won't be welcome at Anfield ever again. He is only sorry for losing the huge amount of money. He simply had no choice as the dam had burst. Just like the Glazers and Kroenke he is making money on the back of the club's reputation and history . Disgusting leeches all of them. A part of me wishing him and his like to lose money so that he can **** off.
Good actually come out and apologised as the original statement was bit pathetic. Lots of grovelling to make up for it, I’m sure over time if they do the right things then relationships can be mended but maybe they need to look at having a position to link the boardroom with the fans in future to gauge opinion on things
not really, you were not very united were you? we had fans angry for one reason, the premier league clubs panicking out of self interested, uefa panicking out of self interest and fifa playing the reasonable voice. Just which had the greatest effect remains to be seen. Was it fan hatred? was it uefa law suits? was it prem league saying they would reject and vote them out?
Same with season ticket price increase. Didn't consult with anyone, backed down and had to apologise. Same with furlough last year, backed down and apologised. Same now with this. No consultation with fan groups or the wider club or players. Just try it on and back down if needed. Would happily have got away with them all
I think it just shows the divide between UK LFC and US FSG. the tweet was thrown out at about 10:50 last night. Obviously john henry didn't bother his arse getting a camera in and all of that to record this apology until whenever. (should have done this yesterday by 5pm uk time as they all knew where it was going, certainly form 8pm time it was obvious. the staff at LFC website work up this morning and posted his ramblings. Its a hand wringing oh covid was tough we are listening (again)
