Can't the people involved just be thrown out of the sport?

I personally think the government would step in, take control back and sell the clubs to someone else at that point.
The integrity of football in this country is bigger than any club.
This is a culture. This is society. The ramifications are huge to be honest

But what about the previous examples? Our owners were the problem for us, they ran us down. But the club and the fans suffered. There is literally no difference, except the current crimes are worse

I believe the clubs involved had already covered the legal angles. I think there wasnt anything that could be done to stop them playing in their domestic leagues.

Not that easy mate, as they’re the owners of businesses. I don’t think there’s any way that they could be forced to sell, so the only punishments available are really just football based, points deductions, fines, exclusions etc.

I understand the all that, but if something was handled incorrectly once then it doesn't mean it should be every time.

I am absolutely willing to accept any and all punishments that come Chelsea's way due to this.
Yes the fans, the players and the staff werent involved, but neither are they involved when a club enters administration and clubs are still docked points when this happens.
The only way it would be acceptable for the clubs to escape punishment is if the owners are stripped of their ownerships of the clubs and recompensed the smallest amount allowable under law.
No one is under any illusions here, the owners wanted this and no one else, no real fan I have spoken to thought this was a good idea.

That's quite disgraceful. Didn't know about Dover Athletic's situation.

How can they in good conscience throw the book at a non-league club who can't pay their staff and play all their fixtures through no fault of their own, but welcome back the big six after threatening to destabilise the entire football pyramid with a slap on the wrist?

It's a shame because the Saudis could've dealt with it in a way we'd all be happy with

I don’t agree with that, as they were in obvious breach of the PL rules, so therefore the breach of contract would have put their membership at risk. The only argument would have been that rule L9 didn’t have a prescribed definitive punishment attached to it, it was merely a condition of membership, so the lawyers would have argued the toss over that in Court.

Mate, no one stepped in to help any other club.

No one was outraged when our back room staff lost jobs, community was broken due to our owners. It’s NEVER the players or fans at fault for breaking rules.

Why should this be different? Give me one reason

    Can that be applied retrospectively?

Also, couldn’t they just change the entire board whilst retaining ultimate control from behind the curtain?

That’d get as messy as **** imo.

I've seen quite a lot of fans of the big six clubs actually want points deducted and harsh punishments for their clubs. Gary Neville being the most high-key example.

Munse will have his begging bowl out all day now

so desperate to see his team emulate the top 6 in their positions and power...so much so that he backed a murderer...he’s got a whole thread with lots of begging in it.

    And yet rules are rules.

Punishments are handed out to protect the game.

    The same should happen here.

Emulate Tottenham? We've thrashed them 7-1 and 5-1 lost only one game more to them than they've lost to us every decade and aren't in any debt whatsoever in comparison to Tottenhams 1 billion ticking time bomb.
