All the big labels at the time rejected it, took Jim and Meat ages to get the deal done. True story.
RIP James Richard Steinman Got work by at least four artists that Steinman wrote – if I include his own album “Bad For Good”. Obviously I have Meatloaf’s “Bat Out Of Hell”, which probably half the Western World has got gathering dust somewhere because we all went and bought the CD in the 80s and ripped it onto some portable device in the 90s. I also have “Bat Out Of Hell II: Back Into Hell” on CD somewhere. I have Bonnie Tyler’s album “Faster Than The Speed Of Night”, featuring the Steinman song “Total Eclipse Of The Heart” as well as the title track. He also wrote her other big hit of the 80s, “Holding Out For A Hero” from the soundtrack to the film “Footloose”, which is also gathering dust in the vinyl box. I never realised that he wrote Celine Dion’s “It’s All Coming Back To Me Now” until I read the obituary, but I have that on a compilation CD of some description from back in the 90s.
