So then, West Brom and Fulham both need to win 4 from their last 6 to go above us. Assuming we dont pick up another point. Happy to eat my head if that happens. *Not forgetting Brighton, Burnley & Newcastle.
From the BBC "West Brom are on the brink of relegation as they remain nine points from safety and have a far inferior goal difference than 17th-placed Burnley." Funny even the press aren't even concerned with relegation for us.
WBA are down but I thought that Fulham were unlucky to concede so late on last weekend. No football for Saints or Fulham this weekend but I am keeping tabs on them. If I am honest, I am not sure that we will pick up many more points this season. Our best hope of any points is actually against Fulham and I feel they will be seeing that as three potential points for themselves too. They have 15 points to play for but I believe they will get nothing from Chelsea and Man Utd. Nine points will put them level with Saints. Fulham beating Newcastle, Burnley and Southampton is still credible. I think that Fulham could potentially overhaul us. Our safety will remain in their hands as I genuinely believe we will not pick up any further points this season. The team is done as far as 20/21 is concerned. and I think we fill ultimately finish below Burnley, Brighton and Newcastle. Regardless of what the BBC think, the battle for the third relegation place will be between Saints and Fulham. I have to say, I think Ralph will be gone if the points tally does not get above 42.
We're not going down. We won't like the final table from our point of view, but it's. PL for us next season and that is the only certainty I can rely on at present.
If Fulham beat Burnley and Newcastle, then we potentially don't need to worry if they beat us... The fact of the matter is that Fulham need 4 wins from 6, as do West Brom. That is ignoring the fact that Brighton, Newcastle and Burnley are all below us as well. Also, if we pick up just 3 points it makes their job nearly impossible. If we don't lose to them it is also nearly impossible to get past us. I said earlier I will eat my head if we get relegated and as @Brinkworth Saint said, it won't be a nice look at the table, but we will be playing PL footie next season. EDIT: Fulham need 4 wins from 5 actually, didn't realise.
Arsenal have actually been alright in this game. Until Leno and Xhaka decided to have that competition for worst error.
42? Really? We're not getting 42. Edit - I don't think. I also don't think it makes one iota of difference re Ralph if we do or not.
On the basis that Saints did not pick up any more points and with the current goal difference at minus 18 each. Fulham need to win three matches and score one more goal. , to overtake Saints.
Agreed, but if we pick up a flukey point (that isn’t that unlikely) then Fulham will need 3 wins and a draw from 5. That is ignoring what the others below us do.
Six Saints defeats and three Fulham wins would almost certainly render Fulham's goal tally irrelevant. The goal difference swing between us two in those matches would be so far in Fulham's favour, that unless Fulham get annihilated in their other two matches, whether or not they score one more than us would have no impact. Fortunately, the above set of results is the one and only way that I can see us going down. Eight out of eight results going against us. Sure, it's possible. And sure, it's natural to keep one eye on it. But the chances of it happening are so incredibly remote.
If we don't get at least one win from our last 6 games then we will deserve to go down but I don't think it will happen.
