You owed money that you could afford to pay back, because your expenditure was similar to your revenue.
That's not the case for us and we've just built a new stadium, which accounts for most of the debt, plus we've got a bunch of other property in London.
You could probably sell St James' Park for about 50p if it came down to it though, which is nice.

Good to see considering they're unlikely to get back in Europe again any time soon.

    Fair play to them

So a 'British League' involving Rangers/Celtic and a two tier PL is the latest idea.

    No thanks.

I read that: what difference is that to what the big six did? It would destroy Scottish football. Same thing?

Also anyone else notice that no punishments appear to be on the horizon??????

Do you think they would brick opposition team coaches?... and the carbon footprint would be pretty high in comparison too ... what with all that travelling from Glasgow .. as compared to the Liverpool fans coming from the Home Counties ... <whistle>

    History suggests otherwise ...

... but personally I don't think either Scottish club should get automatic entry to the top flight in England, irrespective ... the majority of our Championship clubs would challenge for the Scottish title tbf ... IMHO

I see what's in it for the Glasgow Two, as they've wrecked the SPL, but what's in it for the English teams?

Except there was no rule break. No competition was entered into during the season, no first team players were released to play in said competition that was never entered into either, and the six teams sought and were subsequently denied permission by the other 14 members, so protocol was followed.

Funny innit, £20bn of football real estate actually having their backs covered.

People need to accept that to punish these clubs, there has to be something to punish them for that’s a breach of the rules. Disrepute being the weakest case that the PL cannot afford to do, given they colluded with media partners to rinse the British Public for PPV fees during the height of a pandemic.

That’s.jarg though, they never sought permission either before the announcement that they’d signed up for it or afterwards. The PL vote was the merely the other 14 formerly rejecting the ESL.

So they all agreed to join another competition and signed a legally binding contract to do so ASAP. If they had any intention of following the rules they’d have sought permission before signing, which they didn’t. Had there not been the public outcry against it, they’d have ploughed on irrespective, otherwise they’d have never committed to it.

So if their defence is that level of semantics, then it won’t stand up to much scrutiny at the judge lead review panel.

If you think that they covered their backs after what’s transpired this week, then you’re living on another planet mate.
