    Update: :emoticon-0158-time: :emoticon-0162-coffe

I've got my WhatsApp working again, and will be downloading some 'Travels' pictures shortly (I hope!)
Then posting them in this thread again.
    Apologies Elfs for the delay...

I'm off to NPL v Battersea Ironsides in the Surrey Elite Cup, 11am k/o.
Thus explaining my (very)early morning enthusiasm.

    Here we go then...
Just downloaded from my phone (I don't know if I've got everything you sent)

    10th April

    :emoticon-0171-star: Sungate 1-1 Basildon Town :emoticon-0171-star:

Essex Olympian League ... Attendance 20

    001 Sungate 10 April (5).jpg 001 Sungate 10 April (1).jpg 001 Sungate 10 April (2).jpg 001 Sungate 10 April (3).jpg 001 Sungate 10 April (4).jpg

These pictures all had the same date code, so I assume they are a set.

Question - Do Sungate play at the Ilford Wanderers Rugby Club ground? Or have I got the pictures mixed up...
If these pics are mixed up I'll be happy to separate them and correct any mistakes - just let me know Elfs <ok>

    More to follow soon...

    :emoticon-0137-clapp Mr Lardiman.
You are right mate, Sungate play at Ilford Wanderers Rugby Club.
By the (sometimes ridiculous)guidelines, spectators were not allowed to attend as the game was played on private land. However, we walked through a gate and a guy walking his dog said it was okay to carry on over to the pitch.
Walking past the clubhouse and changing rooms, the officials were very uninterested in asking the three of us what we were doing.
    Social distancing was adhered to.
    Admission foc<party>
    No programme<yikes>

I’m sure the “foc” makes up for no programme :emoticon-0148-yes:

There were more fans watching it <ok>

(not counting streams, which is absolutely no way to watch football)

I must admit, I don't like watching Charlton on TV at all.

If I can't be at the Valley to watch them for real, I'm content to watch Soccer Saturday on SSN and hear the goals & results coming in.
But on those rare occasions when a Charlton game is shown live by Sky I find it uncomfortable viewing.

Watching every second of the action while being there in the ground is an experience second to none.
Nothing comes within a million miles of it.
Just the way I feel of course. I appreciate other fans will not mind so much watching TV or streams of games - especially with the pandemic meaning empty stadiums for a year or more now.

What does depress me a bit is the thought that young fans might actually prefer televised football to being there in person.
That will lead to a dreadful decline in football after a few years. A slow death of the game we know and love.

I don’t think you need to get depressed mate - live footy wins 100 times over TV footy , no brainer

Yesssssss, but empty stadiums breed fake atmospheres, this is universally acknowledged.
