Here we go - can Ole smash the semi-final glass ceiling? This looks like the perfect side for a lively EL tie, strong attacking intent, a solid midfield and a wibbly defence but we'll ignore that for now.

    That's a good side.

We really should win this one, and try to put it to bed tonight.

Can't lie, this is clouded by the situation in the CL but you can only play who's in front of you so we have to win this and then win the final.

Good result for a first leg. Hope we now don’t cock it in the second leg. <yikes>

When we went 2-1 down I was scratching my head. That was such a **** Roma side, they gave us so much time and space on the ball.

The score line in the end was really no surprise.

    Cavani is just different class.

Whatever it takes we need to keep Cavani for another season, the man is a pure striker and was involved in all 6 goals tonight (should have had 3 himself and could have had 5)
Cavani, Pogba and Bruno are very much on the same wavelength and when all on song together devastating.
Why is Ole the only person in the world that can't see Rashford is wasted on the right. Was tonight just a game to help get over his injuries but not too much pressure to perform or is Ole struggling to get all his best players in their best positions?

There was obviously a game plan that required Rashford to play on the right. That was a masterclass by Ole - surely the doubters have been silenced by that performance, scintillating SAF type football, energy and purpose - fantastic to watch. Whatever Cavani wants - we need to pay up, world class.

This win wasn’t that exceptional tbh.

Winning in the 2nd half after being down at half time. Story of our season so why is anyone still surprised? Roma to be fair were never that much and fair play we took advantage in the second half. IF we do get into the final we just have to make sure we defend better. But then if conceding means we have a great recovery and win, I’ll readily accept that.

Who would you prefer in the final? I know Arsenal are absolute dogshit but I have a feeling we will fck up against them. Maybe bcos we haven't played well against them in a while, maybe bcos they'll be desperate to win it, or just bcos it's an English side.

Villareal are the better team but I'd fancy us to raise our game and do them.

I would prefer to play Villa real. Because that would mean Arsenal are out of the competition and no chance of getting European football never mind the CL. This is my old dislike of Arsenal as a rival coming to the fore. But also I think we have experience this season of playing mid table Spanish sides like Villarreal. Although they are as strong as Arsenal.

Let’s not count our chickens yet. We need to avoid conceding more than 3 goals

Don’t you worry, I’ll count them and roast them for you. Roma has no chance in covid hell!

Second round tonight, Fred and Donny start as holding mids/pivots.

It's a strong line up and I think it's the right move. We see the first half out, hopefully with a goal or two. Then take players off and bring on the youngsters for some experience in the 2nd half.

It would interesting to see how VdB operate in midfield. How good is he replacing McTominay? Also can we really do without Rashford and is Greenwood good enough to replace him?

I’d be (pleasantly) surprised if we win tonight with this team. I’m hoping we could escape with a draw and no injuries.

The number of games to be played in so few days is just unbelievable. I’ve never seen anything like it and the team will do well to escape with draws and few injuries.

We should absolutely be expecting to win tonight <laugh>

That side is good enough to beat that **** Roma side.

We won the first leg 6-2 ffs.

I just don't like VdB - he'll be running around like a headless chicken trying to make a point instead of playing for the team. Now he's going to score three to **** me off.................

Just watching this game, it's so typical we have zero protection in front of that back 4. We're lucky Roma can't finish.

And if we concede it will be our defence and goalie who will get all the spotlight. They've saved us so far. We need a better DM.

Yes but it is difficult to win after a 6-2 first leg. So far so good. But don’t be surprised if Roma score.
