When a star dies it expands first. The same will happen to the Sun. And when it expands it will swallow the Earth and a few other planets, imagine the size of the fcker to do that, before imploding and causing a black hole. Prof Brian Cox said so.
Well if it's not burnt to a crisp first, it'll be sucked up into the black hole and crushed with the force of a gazillion G's.
I don't think they know. I think the physics of a black hole is beyond our comprehension and much disputed.
If we weren't this distance from the sun, if we didn't have a moon, if we didn't have us spinning at the speed we are, and we weren't on a tilt, this planet would be absolutely fcked. It's as if some higher being had ordained it
No body knows that's the problem One theory is that you would emerge into another galaxy or dimension Another theory is you would be atomised The theory of warp drive is you create a temporary black hole/worm hole that would enable you to travel from A to B in seconds rather than light years
The moon is gradually moving away from us but it will take millions or billions of years, before that will affect our planet. Hence it use to be really close to us, and as I understand it, humans would not have been able to survive at that time. So the Earth is currently in the cycle of where it can support human life, but at some point in the distant future we will be destroyed. Until we find a way of travelling to another planet like ours, we will be pretty much fooked and human existence will cease.
I grew up with the first series of Star Trek They look like **** now I quite like the new films with ChrisPine as Kirk that's how they should have been
What if Earth was a few miles closer to the Sun than it is? Would it be too hot for us here? what if Earth was a few miles further away from the Sun? Too cold for us?
And apparently the spin of the Earth was much faster as well, but slowed over millions of years to where it is now and an ideal speed for life to flourish.
Venus and Mars were once the same as Earth Venus was too close and suffered an extreme global warming Mars was too far away and gradually froze
It is a series of perfect circumstances that enable life to flourish on this planet, but when you consider that there are possibly billions of stars out there, chances are there was going to be one planet with the correct requirements to sustain human life. Its like the monkeys and the typewriters.
