I know our resident tree-huggers lap it up but the woke stuff is deliberate to put voters off. The lizard people will make sure that Labour never drop it.

From Michael Deacon’s Saturday column in the Telegraph, a look at the Crazed Leftie world of economics:

    What a curry-on
Twitter may be a foul and dispiriting place. But it does perform one valuable public service.
It gives us a fascinating insight into how our MPs’ minds work.
In the Commons most MPs by and large manage to restrain themselves, but on Twitter they seem unable to help blurting out every thought that enters their heads. As a result, we are able to make a better informed judgment of their suitability for office.
This week we were given an insight into the mind of Jon Trickett, the Labour MP for Hemsworth. On Thursday, Mr Trickett – who served as a shadow minister under the leadership of Jeremy Corbyn – tweeted that while the hourly minimum wage was only £8.91, the average price of a takeaway meal was £9.75.
“We have a system,” he concluded in disgust, “where a curry is worth more than a human.”
His logic may not seem easy to follow, but we should at least try. Unless I have misunderstood, Mr Trickett is arguing that the hourly minimum wage should be greater than the price of a takeaway.
The suggestion sounds admirable. The only trouble is this. Under Mr Corbyn, Labour pledged to increase the hourly minimum wage to £10. But at my local Indian takeaway – the Gandhi, Gravesend – a king prawn madras costs £11.95. So even under a Corbyn government, in which Mr Trickett would proudly have served, a curry would still have been worth more than a human.
Mr Trickett could have responded by raising the hourly minimum wage to £11.96. But even this would not have solved the problem, because it overlooks a key issue. The price of pizza.
At my local branch of Pizza Hut, a 13” Pepperoni Feast Pizza with Nacho Cheese Stuffed Crust costs £23.58. Mr Trickett surely would not wish to preside over a system in which a pizza is worth more than a human. So he would therefore have had no choice but to raise the hourly minimum wage to £23.59.
Naturally it would have been wonderful to see the lowest-paid receive such a tremendous boost to their earnings. But to afford to pay such high wages, the owners of takeaway restaurants would have had to increase dramatically the price of their wares. Each time the minimum wage shot up, so would the cost of a takeaway. Soon, a pizza delivery boy would have been on the same salary as a FTSE 100 executive – but a margarita with extra cheese would have cost more than an Aston Martin.
Not only would this have placed takeaway pizza beyond the financial reach of most customers, it would have left Mr Trickett back where he started. Because a takeaway would still have been worth more than a human.
I suspect that Mr Trickett would find life in government terribly disappointing. Perhaps it’s for the best that he doesn’t get there.

I still don't understand why, in crazed leftie land, a human is only worth their hourly wage.
It's as if humans are disposable.

Clearly you are in need of a lesson in Crazed Leftie economics. I am sure that @Mind The Duck will be along presently to explain how all billionaires became so rich by paying the Worker two ‘tokens’ to make 1000 widgets and then selling the widgets for 1000 ‘tokens’ and only paying one ‘token’ in tax.

You cannot have a situation where the Worker gets paid two ‘tokens’ for making 1000 pizzas and cannot afford to buy 1 pizza. Clearly what is needed is price controls by the State. We tried that in the 1970s, it was a roaring success.

As a compromise with the "work shy is OK if you have a posh accent" crew, we share the tokens equally.

Strange because Labour have said next to nothing about it.
