Therein lies the problem of this club for God knows how many years mate. Never the right time to bring through the young lads because of this excuse or that. Then they leave and become good players at other clubs..

Take Diamond for example, came in and had a few good cameos, a couple of good games from the start but we went out in January and brought in Jones, pushing Diamond further down the pecking order behind Gooch and Jones. You can probably count on 1 hand the starts he's had since and probably not many more sub appearances and then Johnson brings him on in garbage time last night despite being 2 down for pretty much 20 minutes! Ridiculous man.

I fully expect the same **** players on Saturday. I'll go and support them from the off but if they put in a performance like last night them I'm sorry to anyone who doesn't agree, but I'll be giving them both barrels if they deserve it!

Edit: Embleton being another prime example. Integral to a team who's flying and pretty much booked there place at Wembley already yet he was deemed not good enough to replace Power et al. at Sunderland...

Watching this team is like watching a robot repeating the same movements over and over. It is well known that winning regularly creates a winning mentality - well the opposite is also true. Not winning regularly creates a losing mentality, and I think that is part of our trouble. LJ has stuck to the same game plan and bunch of players even when it has been obvious that opponents gave worked out how to stop us. Stop Mcgeady and you stop Wyke. Speculative lobs into the penalty area rarely gets goals. LJ changed the team slightly for the Plymouth game and it was a much improved performance. Lets get some youthful enthusiasm into our play. We’ve nothing to lose now. We’re in the last chance saloon with 11 Billy the kids coming for us. For Fock sake change something.

Just looked at the Lincoln player ratings and they are all 7-9 (apart from the lad who went off early with an injury)

Are they all so good or did we make them look good.

Our ratings have a couple on 6 and the rest on 4 or 5.

It’s true that they were up for the game whilst we were slow and ponderous, passing square in our own half then either back to Burge or hoofed up invariably to one of their players or out of play for a throw in (or goal kick) to them.

I think they got all the luck and decisions, any loose balls going to one of their players (or it may have been good positioning or anticipation by them)

We had our chances but couldn’t take them.

I think we could still win this if our players turn up but they must all up their game.

    One thing to think about.
If it was the other way round and we were going to their place with a 2 -0 lead I bet there would be loads on here saying we will probably lose.

Will Lincoln have another 7-9 rating performance and will we be 4-6 again.
Surely we will play better and with 10,000 behind them I think we will do it.

I would play Younger Wright and Flanagan back 3 with McFaj and Gooch as the wingbacks.
Leadbitter, Onion, 1 of Jones or Diamond and McGeady with Stewart up front.

Heads up Lads, we have at least 90 minutes to turn this around.

Where were the ratings? They were no better than us really. We gave them 2 goals and they created little else. We created 4 clear chances and could easily have won the game. But their keeper is better than Gordon Banks and the sky commentators loved him. Loved every Lincoln player. They weren’t good, they were average. We just defended poorly (understatement) fir the 2 goals. Didn’t see any incisive passing or movement from them second half. They looked the better side first half without troubling Burge outside that one unbelievable save. But most of their stuff came from our mistakes even then.

Very few clubs are successful during a takeover and manager change ...

... it's been a bit messy but people demanding sackings and a total clear out are premature imo.

Exactly what Wolfe and me said from the beginning but somebody shot us down fair enough that’s his opinion but it’s not mine.

LJ has had to come in and work with (mainly) the players that were here, since then a lot has changed behind the scenes.

when he arrived we had 3 main strikers, none of which we would call prolific, there was an obvious problem with grigg as they let him out on loan rather than trying to work with him, graham was a waste as he was in his first stint so he was left with wyke, probably the least mobile and slowest of the three and somehow had to find a supply line for him...now look at those who were brought into the team, mcgeady was immediately reinstated and jones was brought in and i honestly think if we had not had such horrendous problems with defenders we would have seen more changes to central midfield but especially with hume we had to find cover for the left side and mcfadz may well be a better wing back than defender and not seen enough of vokins to comment on him, winchester has looked ok but why buy a lad and not/hardly use him, surely you get a player to step in and improve the squad...or maybe they were just squad fillers to ensure we had cover until the new plan could be fully implemented.

i am with the majority of thought here in that they were simply not good enough and we know the team can do much better but i am also trying to look with one eye on next season, it is sadly looking likely we will have another div 3 season...now, i feel LJ was brought in also with an eye on the next season and wont really be judged on this one, although for a while at least, he got some kind of tune out of the squad, with the new regime in place, the recruitment squad already working hard to get a short list drawn up and possibly already out looking at players and the 'overall plan' that the club will be working on from now i am hoping to finally see some regular good performances in coming seasons as we head back to the top league.

apologies for the rant but trying hard to put some perspective into the disappointment here(things are rarely as 'black and white' as they appear)...we can and will improve and if we had the luxury of time i am sure we would get 'streaky' to give us another good run.

Sorry mate it wasn’t a dig!! More a “if we’d taken 2 or 3 of our chances and played exactly the same and drawn or won, the ratings probably would be a lot different “!!

Didn’t think either side deserved all 7-9 ratings. Neither were particularly good. Just they made the most of the chances we created and we didn’t!! They obviously defended better as our chances were created by SAFC, their chances were also created by SAFC!!

It is scary to imagine what would happen if we carry our current bad streak on into next season, which will now certainly be in Div One AGAIN, but this time we could be fighting relegation, our form is that bad.

You would've thought that even though some players may know they might not be here next season, the fact that they would have a Papa John's winners and promotion on their CV would look good to other clubs for them to be picked up elsewhere! Unless some of them have already got their agents to sort something out and just waiting for the season to end to announce it.

Only about themselves and their next pay packet - they're definitely not showing any pride in their performances lately no matter how limited they may be

There's no certainty about it at all yet. Game isn't over until Saturday afternoon. We could easily win three nil, two nil or whatever.

It could also be a triumph mate. I'd stick Younger in at RB. He has pace and has played well enough there in the League already this season.

The cautious approach is no good to us now. We need 09 in midfield to give us more of a goal threat and make us more creative, alongside Leadbitter and Scowen for a mix of mobility and a cool head.

I'd play Younger-Wright-Flanagan - McFadzean and put a stop to playing midfielders in the Back 4.

Been laughed at myself mate when I first tabled this notion 3 season ago when I said being in this leauge suits these players. It's not their fault, just when could they have ever played at a club like ours unless we ended up in the 3rd division? It'll be different next season though, start a fresh with an owner with money.

Things went rapidly downhill after the Posh game, don't know why. But something drastic happened.
