    So it's pens.

2 attempts on target all game.

Simply not good enough in the final third. Poor possession play.

I blame the players! They didn’t set themselves up well. And they made late substitutions.

    De Gea should've saved that

**** sake, I'd like to see De Gea try to save one.

    Rather then just falling over.

    Had to be.

Never got within a metre of saving one, then missed his own.

    ****ing garbage all round.

We didn't deserve to win tbh.

When it went to pens we'd already lost.

Don’t worry. We need three more players and we’ll be there next season winning.

    At least.

    Yes.

Do you think those who played were good enough? Seriously?

Nothing is ever good enough for United in the last ten years. It is always next fkin season. If we can’t beat the likes of Villarreal, who the fk can ever guarantee beating to get something from any season?

There is no enhanced coaching here to make these players execute on a very fkin defined plan. Nor are they truly inspired to go out there and dig in deeper 8 times out of ten. It’s too much of auto-pilot one direction execution strategy which makes it easier for teams like Villarreal to deal with.

Anyway, we’ll see what happens in the summer.

There were a couple of poor performances but otherwise I don't blame the players, it was down to the game plan.

I mean, look at their side ffs. Unai Emery is just the better manager. Got his tactics right.

Scholes is bang on the money.

When asked what went wrong, he paused, thought about it and says "You know... I wonder if losing hurts them enough? Does it really hurt them? It's Manchester United. Are there any demands on Ole from the club. What pressure is on him to win? Because it seems like that's translating onto the players."

    He's spot on.

I don’t see how anyone here could ever defend a manager that would make such mess of tactical game management when it absolutely mattered the most. In a cup final!

I’ve read that the team doesn’t have enough depth which is really nonsense. To think that there were 12 players on the bench and no one could come on and bring fresh legs to the game until 100th minute is just a very sad thing to witness. James and Mata at very least would have bring something fresh to the play.

There is no other way to characterize this abject failure by Ole last night other than to call it just that. It sadly sums up Ole’s lack as a manager. He simply doesn’t have enough know-how to inspire the players. He simply puts them out there and lets them figure it out.

You can’t possibly claim to love this club and suggest that Ole is the right man to take this club forward. Yes, he’s done okay so far. But going forward, that is not going to be enough to compete when other teams start playing.

He made a mess of the substitutions, no doubt.

You've got five substitutions all sat there and he keeps going with the first eleven to the point they're knackered, taking any impetus we had going into extra time away from us.

Then was clearly in his head trying to suss out who to sub based on penalties!

Truth is, he should have made a minimum of three changes going towards extra time and not 'worried' about penalties, tried to beat an inferior team instead.

Yes, some players had off nights, but that's where actual management comes in. Rashford shouldn't really have been on the pitch to miss that sitter to be honest, he'd stunk the whole game out. Either replace him directly with Mata or bring a CM on and push Pogba left or switch Greenwood and bring some raw pace in James on. All quite simple.

This is where proper coaches and managers earn their corn and win trophies, and I do not see Solskjaer begin able to take that step up. I just don't, there's no ****ing point pretending he's 'getting there' because he'll fall short, again.

And don't ask me who replaces him, that's not my job. That's up to the club.

But, there are now Allegri and Conte without jobs and a bloke in Spain who's just won the league is half decent.

I also guess De Gea feebly gave up his position as goalkeeper last night. So, are we stuck with Henderson, who isn't good enough, or are we now also looking for a new keeper?

Proper ****ing mess. Win that match against average opposition and most of that goes away.
