Too many red flags to really know. Tyres wise Pirelli brought the softest compounds. So the hard is 1 step softer than last year. I think Ferrari have set the car up to be quick but it eats tyres, so maybe they have decided 2 stops is best? They keep saying it's a track where you can overtake so maybe more teams will go for 2 stops.
not F1 related really, but you can go live in car with pretty much every car in the nurburgring 24hr atm.
In a non safety car race, I believe one stop is the plan for top teams which could be done using the hard compound (C3). Last time we were here the (C3) was the medium in the range Pirelli bought and long stints were possible on them according to Pirelli. Where things get interesting is if someone can minimise time lost in a safety car re set and see if they can drop on some fresh tyres without losing many positions, as that would put you in Ricciardo territory in terms of being the burglar and stealing the GP late on! I’m wincing about the first two corners already!
Everyone writing him off at the moment but he mastered Renault after a steady start and he will do the same at McLaren. He isn’t the sort of guy to be majestic on a Saturday but he can have some very strong Sunday’s when he finds the groove. I cannot have him written off in a James Key led McLaren in new regs next year. Lando is driving out of his skin and putting the pressure on, but it will begin to get closer for sure. Lando May end up being a beast through- I always remember when Alonso left McLaren he said they were in safe hands with Lando and he said it in a way that wasn’t joking- I think he may have realised another slippery rookie similar to 2007 might have been coming. I fancy Ricc to steal a few more races yet before he calls it a day- just not so sure he will get his elusive WDC.
Max has a different set of soft tyres on for the start! He changed them due to black paint being picked up on the Q2 set! I wonder if the replacements are actually in better shape than the Q2 set? I am surprised that the FIA didn't just say they will clean up with a practice start, a lap or 2 before going to the grid or on formation lap. Seems a bit funny?
Too many better, younger drivers, though I suppose it does depend on how McLaren do, but I don't think a non-Renault customer is going to threaten a works team. if he wins do ~I get the Murray walker commentator curse award?
We all did. They mentioned it happening within a few corners of Ric getting ahead, but we didn’t actually see it afaik.
Just noticed that on lap 9 they are saying Lewis's tyres have done 12 laps but max has only done 9! Do either the computer is wrong due to max not using Q2 tyres or he swapped for a new set!
