Gareth Southgate, Rio Ferdinand etc have been very articulate in explaining why its continued however it shouldn't go on forever and it is divisive, it would be good to move on beyond this subject.

There's a general attitude by some that musicians, actors, athletes and the like should shut up and do their jobs without speaking out about anything as if they're robots who only have one purpose in life (to entertain others) and not human beings. If you don't like a celebrity's opinions or decisions on certain things so much then don't listen to their music, watch their films or watch football games. Nobody's forcing you to watch a football game if you don't like the fact players are kneeling for 5 seconds before kick-off. Celebs can be sanctimonious arseholes at the best of times but they're still entitled to their opinions and free-speech. The fact kneeling is pissing off a certain type of person is a good reason why it's worth continuing.

To use an analogy I previously used, 'protest but only on my terms and as long as it doesn't inconvenience me and my world-view' is akin to a boss telling workers they can strike but only on Sundays so it doesn't disrupt business.

If he wants to prevent his players being booed, stop them doing the thing that makes people boo.

    It really is that simple.

When England players were racially abused by Bulgarian fans, Southgate should've just told the black players to stop being black.

    It really is that simple.

It's somewhat ironic that in order to justify the original cock up of naively linking to the actual BLM, they're distancing themselves from the main organisation, which is effectively throwing it under the bus.

    Well said Sobbo. Succinct enough.

Now, about this next WC in homophobic, misogynistic, bribe-paying, safety-ignoring Qatar......

As an initiative to generate unity, it has clearly failed no matter what criteria is applied.

Wouldn't buy a used car from Ferdinand the well-known drug test avoider.

He has no intellect or moral stature.

What would people say if Grant McCann wore a bowler hat and orange sash in the dug out each week?

Divisive gesture or bravo Grant, he's confronting the fenian bigots who have caused so much misery to so many?

It's a Pandora's Box of causes, politics etc that is being opened, and it damages football.

Expect much, much more booing when the fans are back each week.

James McClean tried that and it resulted in him having to play for Stoke, a salutary tale.

I find it interesting the people who boo players for kneeling and consider taking a knee as an inherent political gesture also argue that the poppy is apolitical, despite evidence to the contrary such as hurling sectarian abuse at Irish players who opt not to wear one.

Did you do many surveys to determine that these are the same people, or are you perhaps stereotyping based on your own prejudice and bigotry?
