For me and it depends I suppose how you interpret it, seems he didnt fancy McC management style (and youre right it could have been sulking) and his ability to drive him on. Two sides to every story...
Nowhere in that statement does it read anything like he didn't fancy McC management style... I think your trying to create something that really isn't there! It's a really simple one...he wanted to be closer to home and first choice, he wasn't going to get either from us so decided to move on. The fact he openly admits he didn't even look at our offer should tell you everything you need to know
I suspect he left because he wanted first team football,I respect any player who wants that in preference to possibly playing second fiddle. The fact that he never even looked at the offer seems to confirm that.
Alfie prefers centre half. Listen to his interview with regards to the new contract. Will play either, though his preference is definitely CH. Rolls Royce of a player. That will also possibly explain why they are pursuing Slater.
That was exactly how I saw it - imo, it needs some really queer mindset to come to any other conclusion?
Dunno why he is referring to him as ex-Hull... Hopefully a loan in League One. Think the lad has a future with us.
I'm happy for Alfie and Greaves to be our first-choice centre-halves but I'd still want a new defensive midfielder, someone a little more dynamic and agile than Smallwood. I think Rathbone could do that job. If I'm not mistaken, he made the second-most tackles of any player in League 1 the season just gone, only behind Honeyman, and Honeyman had the most tackles in all top 4 divisions.
I am hoping it is a loan deal, he needs to play regular 1st team football and I cannot see him getting that with us next season in the Championship too many players in front of him - probably would get game time in the cup matches though.
Fair enough, hadn't heard the interview. I suppose though who lines up where depends on what players we end up with!
Nixon is usually pretty reliable so I'm assuming there's something in it. I think there's zero chance of him going permanently though, Callum looks to be a top prospect so a L1 loan is perfect for him. On the flip side, we must be close-ish to bringing in some more midfielders as we're really thin on the ground there
