I'd be happy with that, he looked decent against us last season. I don't think we need much to be fair, a centre half and a forward and I think we're good to go, barring any departures.
In all honesty if they add to the team and improve us then it's progress .. thats all we can hope for in reality
That's exactly what we signed this year though. They were no massive big-name signings but they improved us a lot
First choice player for Pompey last season (43 league appearances/49 total appearances), attacking midfielder, who scored twice (with three assists). ‘I wouldn't really say I was released. I had a discussion with the manager and said I wanted to get further up north to my family. ‘I appreciate the conversation and how he took it, he was sound about it. I think it was best for both of us and now I can get back home and be a bit more settled. ‘We had a discussion about it (the option) and agreed maybe it was my time to get back up north and be closer to my family. ‘I'm gutted as a team that we couldn't get promoted. I came down with the ambition to try to get into the starting line-up, which I did at times last season, and this season in particular. ‘All I wanted to do was get promoted. It wasn't meant to be. I wish we could have but, in the end, we just weren't good enough.’ Cannon arrived at Pompey from Rochdale for a fee of £150,000 in January 2019. He featured 79 times, netting three goals, and was one of the standout performers when the Blues topped the table before Christmas.
“Andy is an all-action midfielder who likes to get on the ball and make things happen," McCann told the club website. “We like the energy and aggression that he will bring and we’re looking forward to seeing him compete with the likes of Greg Docherty, George Honeyman and Richie Smallwood. “He is a really good character with a strong winning mentality, and he will fit the dynamics of our changing room nicely whilst also being eager to continue to learn and develop as a player. There was a lot of competition for Andy’s signature so we’re delighted that he has chosen to come here and we can’t wait to work with him.”
I was just reading that a fee had been accepted for Slater in the summer... but it was down to two things... 1. Personal terms... 2 Jackanpovic wanting to have a look at him.
Another good signing that improves us as a squad. Potentially another later this week, but it's not as far along so may be next week
