After last nights abject performance what do people think, should he go after the euros are finished and if yes who would you have.
Two things got to me last night, we weren’t playing well but he took our best outfield player off in foden and brought grealish on. For me it should’ve been Phillips for grealish for a bit more attacking play in the middle.
2nd was bringing rashford on for Kane, again for me I would’ve brought Calvin Lewin on whose more of a direct centre forward. Their 2 c/b had a way to easy time with Kane.
Personally think Southgate should be away as soon as we are out of the comp, don’t know who takes over from him but there must be better out there.

Sack the ****er now and I'll have a bash

How much coaching do these lads really need? Just let them off the leash to play.

That's the first time inhave watched England for full 90 for about 2 years. Reminded myself why I don't bother. Boring to watch has been for years.

Southgate is never going to be the mad to change that is he.

Scotland were always going to make it hard for us and they succeeded in that. The game is essentially a local Derby and form goes out the window for those. But Scotland set up very well and stifled us. Its not like we didn't create chances. Stones' header is 2inches to the left and we don't have this thread.

And if Scotland had scored from one of their chances (Pickford's great save maybe) what would you have said. Overall Scotland wanted the win more, England were walking pace.

I said exactly the same last night. I couldn't believe that Southgate took Foden off, who was our best attacking player. It should have been Phillips making way for Grealish, Sancho for Sterling and Lewin for Kane, who is not fit and shouldn't be starting IMO.

I said at the start of the Euro thread that Southgate has become Mr Dull and two games in I've seen nowt to change my mind.
Scotland were well up for this as anybody would expect and he stood on that touchline reminding me of Mr McLaren of old
We might get to the quarters but no further which is a shame as we've some good young players who aren't being used to their strength by Mr Dull, it's time he went.

I've said on the other thread, last night's performance was tactical. We're cleary trying to finish 2nd to avoid the harder game in the next round. Rightly or wrongly. Kane playing very deep, Phillips hardly attacking etc.We are much better than what we showed last night. The English media Scottish ****athon both before, during and after didn't help. Serling, Foden, Mount and Phillips let loose would have frightened the ****e out of them. As for the penalty claim, outside the box that's a free kick. There was contact, no matter how small, letter of the law these days, contact is contact. "VAR didn't even bother to check it", why not? That English ref pretty much laughing saying he was looking for it. IMO of course.

I'd have said "Scotland wanted the win more. Its essentially a local derby and form goes out the window for those. Stone's header goes 2inches to the left and we don't have this thread. There's no need for the knee-jerk, we can still qualify"

It was always thus, if England are not world beaters and win the European and World Cups sack the manager... cos it cannot be the players fault. All England players are brilliant and just need the right manager to unlock their ability.

Well Kane is certainly the best CF we have had for a while, but last night and in the game before he was ineffectual (that is being polite). The two defensive midfielders were not much good and neither was Sterling tbh.

Pickford kept us in it (MoM?) despite what that useless commentator (Dixon) said.

Scotland were well up for it, had more energy and purpose, and we were not.

Of course Southgate as manager takes some of the blame, but imho the players were by and large cowed by the Scots fervour, and too many of the so called stars had poor games.

I’ve always thought he was a pile of ****. He showed absolutely nothing all those years ago at Boro. Good man manager? Possibly. His selections, substitutions and all round tactical approach are appalling, though.

According to Southgate 'Scotland defended valiantly' ...

... ffs, England had fewer attempts on and off target.

The worry is that he really believes that Scotland ground out a backs to the wall point.

The Croatia win flattered to deceive.

    Last night was poor.

To my mind he can prove himself by either getting something out of Sterling and Kane or flat out dropping them.

If he plays that pair again and they do nothing he is showing himself as an FA puppet and not a coach at all.

Sancho and Bellingham not getting a sniff is hurting my head.

Football isn't coming home. And that's ok. It's a young team.

But people need to prove they belong.

What was he going to say... that the Scots showed passion and commitment, striving to win.... whilst his players were lack lustre and weak as piss, lead by a captain who played as if he would rather be back home in bed.

No he will spin a tale to big up and protect his team.

That's fair enough, I just thought it was unnecessarily disrespectful to Scotland ...

... it wasn't a blood and thunder 'in the trenches' display by Scotland, they just played better.

Yep they did, but on the 'lets get stuck into em' dial we were about 25% of potential, the Scots were much higher... cos i guess if meant more to them than us.

Plus too many of the England players, putting it politely had an 'off day'.

Also that clown Dixon? Saying Billy Gilmour was knackered, I thought the young kid had a great game.

I personally think if at least 2 England players questioned the ref then it would’ve been looked at, the reason it wasn’t was because what I seen were no claims by anyone apart from Stirling. It’s about time our players started being twats and questioning decisions like other countries do. Same could be said of Sunderland.

For me if var checked it would’ve been a pen not that I think we deserved the win because for me Scotland wanted it more but I’m with you I thought var was to check all things like this not just when they can be bothered
