I agree Dalot should be brought back. He's a decent forward thinking right back.

If we do sign Trippier though, then his opportunities might be very limited, especially with Sancho positioned on the right further up.

I'd quite like the idea of AWB moving in field to centre half as an option as a result of Trippier coming in. Could even start playing as a back three with Shaw/Telles on left and Trippier/Dalot on right as the wing backs.

The continued talk of a swap between Pogba and Ronaldo is ridiculous to be honest. Pogba, at his absolute peak, to swap with 38 year old Ronaldo. Really?

Throw Aaron Ramsey in and there might be a decent deal there.

    Based on that, how's this for a team;

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------de Gea

    --------------------------------Wan Bissaka----------------------------Maguire--------------------------------Lindelof

    -Trippier---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Shaw

    ---------------------------------------------------------Fernandes-----------------------------------Pogba

    Sancho--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Rashford

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------Cavani

Based on actual likely signings, so no Declan Rice or new centre half.

That team would leak so many goals, Chief. That’s playing five players that all want to be strikers. I don’t see a balance there at all.

That's why there are three centre halves.

Obviously, things could change based on if we sign anyone of note, but Pogba and Fernandes are both center midfield and would have to show discipline if they played in this formation.

You ever seen Pogba play for France by the way?

    He does ok.

The biggest challenge that I have wrapping my head around is trying to understand how these players will develop the discipline to yield consistent outcome. I really don’t think that we have the coaching staff to instil discipline into the players.

Pogba wants to play in an advance position roaming as he does for France. But we have better player in Fernandez in that role. I would also suspect that the French team has better balance in picking the very best players in every position, a luxury that we don’t have. Last point on that is, Pogba can’t afford to be a dk and distracted by his agent’s greed in the national side. But at United, he’s guaranteed a place even when he brings the club into disrepute.

There are quite a number of United players that do really well in their respective national teams. Lindelof, James, to name a few. Ironically, Rio Ferdinand thinks Lindelof is suited to national setup but not to a “top, top club”. That argument to me is inconsistent. When other players like Pogba perform well for their national sides, it’s the club’s fault for not bringing the best out of them. But for others, it’s the players’ fault for not being good enough for the club.

The Pogba rumour mill continues - lot of news gossip this morning regarding the prospect that he might not sign a new contract and will leave on a free in 2022. If there is the slightest doubt he won't sign he should quickly, and very publicly, be offered for sale. There is no ay this ****er can be allowed to leave for nothing - for a second time.

Talk also that Varane's 'people' are looking to hold talks with us and we seem to be edging slowly, 20p at a time towards the price we will have to pay for Sancho. Just ****ing pay up Ed, stop faffing around so we can move onto the next signing..

Pogba’s situation epitomizes Woodward’s failure at United. Pogba should have been sold two seasons ago, in my opinion. Or if we couldn’t offload him, he should have been forced to extend his contract. Now we are in a situation whereby a want away player has the leverage over the club to leave for nothing to the satisfaction of his fkin nasty agent.

We should bring in Sancho, sell Pogba and bring use the money to buy Declan. We would have a better team than last year if we can pull that off.

To me, Rice is just a slightly further forward centre half and that he'll end up playing there ultimately.

IF we get Varane, do we need such a player?

I think Jude Bellingham or Calvin Phillips are better bets. Or even just stick with McTominay.

I was thinking Rice and McTominay in the middle instead of Fred. If we sell Pogba and get Sancho, it will give us a chance to rebuild the midfield without completely disrupting progress made by the team.

We have next to zero chance of getting Jude, btw. Can you imagine how much Dortmund would ask for him? He certainly isn’t yet worth more than they paid for him and we would stupid to play that game. We need to use our own talents. Hannibal is a beast and I’d have him in the team any day over Jude.

There's also James Garner as it goes.

It seems we are 56p adrift of BD's valuation of Sancho. Woody is determined to drive a hard bargain and is hoping to save 15p to spend on crisps.

Looks like the deals done £77M so £31M cheaper than last year.

Not bad at all. We should get rid of Martial to limit the impact on Greenwood.

Yeah, but I’m sure you don’t rate Portuguese league either. But a lot of wonderful players have come from there which suggests that the league is not always an indictment on player’s quality.

Talent is talent regardless of where they play. Especially when you get them young. Mentality of players is far more important overall and I think Sancho has first hand experience of English league and should fit in well.

    Centre half next.

Varane or Pau Torres? Neither is especially heavyweight but with Maguire alongside that should be fine.

I don't actually think we need a third, unless both keepers leave.

We'd need to replace Pogba if he goes though, of course. Camavinga might well be signed anyway.
