It isn't really a monthly pass though it is just an 8 return journey pass that has to be used within a month long period. If you use your 8 journey pass by the 28th of June and buy another one, it is not as if you only have 2 days to use the new one. I don't really see the issue to be honest although it might have been smarter to make it a 10 return journey pass to be used in the month period.
