The reason why Leeds pulled the plug on the Perraud deal...

News filtered through over the weekend detailing the probable reason why Leeds lost interest in Brest left back Romain Perraud. Leeds had been tracking the former Nice player for months, then suddenly lost interest allowing Southampton a clear passage to land the 23yo for circa 8.5m.

Perraud is expected to take part in the Olympics with the French Soccer team, and would miss the entire pre season. Sources close to the club suggest that this was enough for Bielsa to lose interest in him!

The latest on Leeds search for a left back

Fellow Frenchman Maxwel Cornet continuous to be linked, but Lyon will need to significantly lower their financial expectations from 20m to around 12m.

Argentine International Nicolas Tagliafico would have made a fantastic signing for the Whites; especially with just a 10m price tag which Ajax have put on him. Unfortunately, it looks like the 28yo is off to Inter Milan! Failing that Barcelona have also thrown their hat into the ring, though it is understood Tagliafico is not their first choice!

This leaves Huesca’s Javi Galan, though I can't help thinking he may be a last resort player for the Whites. Galan joined recently relegated Huesca from Segunda División B outfit Córdoba CF in the Summer of 2019, and has made 51 appearances for them. He is valued at 8.5m, but has a relegation clause in his contract will allow him to join Leeds for just 3.5m.

During his two year tenure, Galan has picked up some fantastic reviews for his displays. Unfortunately, many Leeds fans don't seem to get excited about a 3.5m signing! Is there any point signing him if he is only a little better than what we presently have? He is also the spitting image of a young Wayne Rooney!



Gosens Euro performance attracts Leeds attention

Robin Gosens has caught the attention of Leeds Utd, after his man of the match performance for Germany at the weekend. The 26yo dazzled millions on TV, scoring and earning himself an assist in their 4-2 win over Portugal.

He plays his club football for Serie A outfit Atalanta. In his four year stay, the versatile left sided player has made 115 appearances, netting 24 times! His display in the Euro's have also attracted the attention of Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund!

Unfortunately, should Atalanta decide to cash in on their star player, Leeds will have to dig deep if they intend to bring him to West Yorkshire!

Morning all

According to YEP Leeds are in talks and have been in talks for some time with their No1 choice of LB. unnamed t this point but confidence is high they can get it over the line. Any of the players mentioned in this thread would suit me but I suspect it will be someone none of us saw coming.

Looks like the deal for Olly Casey is costing Blackpool £1m and expect we have a sell-on clause in his contract. A good move for the 20yo who goes straight into a Championship team, without having been out on loan. He made the correct choice because he was behind Struijk, Cooper, Koch Llorente and probably Cresswell too. I hope the likes of Stevens, Hosannah, Gotts, McCalmont, Shackelton get sorted out too because I see no way back into the U23s for them now, plus we will probably also see some of last seasons U23s like Casey be sold, released or loaned out too, so lots going to happen

 

Seems that Angus Gunn is joining Norwich and medical booked for this afternoon, so another one crossed off the list.

we are aware that Meslier was a bit upset that he wasnt allowed to represent his country in the Olympic games as it would mean missing pre season. Also seems Romain Perraud will be joining Southampton as Leeds not interested because of Perraud wanting to play in the Olympics. I guess this is an area of concern for Leeds as we usually go for younger players and all the really good ones are likely to be selected for the games?

 

Billy Gilmour has tested positive for Covid-19 and will miss Scotland's crucial Euro 2020 match with Croatia on Tuesday.

 

Totally agree on the LB I bet my last pound it's someone never been on the transfer boards.
My view on it is if we are chasing someone last thing we want to do is bring attention to a deal. Prying eyes, bidding wars 11th hour bids.
We aren't in a position as a man city Liverpool etc etc where we simply just outbid our rivals if it's a free for all.
Of course agents will know but I think we are very straight and to the point on deals these days. Go past our value and we are out.
Bring attention to your player and try to up the fee and we are out sort of thing.
Things have got to start moving these next 2 weeks if we are sticking to our plan.

Alfie McCalmont is going out on loan again but to a League 1 club this time. Last season he excelled at L2 Oldham where he scored 10 goals and created assists from midfield. No club named yet

 

As mentioned before almost all of the transfers involving big European clubs is free transfers. Players getting massive salaries and walking for free

 

And Kane, plus Rice, not forgetting Mings and Southgate so he can’t fck around with the team.

So where to start: how about we start with square pegs. He selected 5 right backs. He hasnt selected enough midfield players.

Then he selected injured players like Maguire, Grealish and Henderson. He didnt select Bamford even though he was the form striker in the Prem behind Kane for goals and assists. He hasnt given Sancho a game yet even though he was the from winger in Europe for the last 12 weeks of the season. He keeps playing Sterling who has not had a good season so should not have even been selected for the squad anyway…….

There is many more issues with Southgate and his mouth dribbling crap everywhere. He will soon be gone after this embarrassing tournament. So far Germany, France, Italy and Holland are clearly showing they can win the trophy. England my most metrics has the best attacking players in the tournament yet held back by a crap coach who is tactically an idiot. My opinion

 

Netherlands to win the trophy? You do realise they drew 2-2 with Scotland only 2 weeks ago, don't you? If a draw with Scotland is an indicator of possibly being winners, then there's hope for england yet!

 

Nope they had a bad game but watch them later today and see the difference. Having a coach who can change the way a team plays is a must at this level, even Clarkey found out he had to do something so selected Gilmour and Adams. the other thing I would say about Scotland is that the media bigged Scotland up like they did with Corbyn in the election against May. They said Corbyn won, or Corbyn won a moral victory. Err no Corbyn lost and Scotland havent scored a goal yet ffs. This clearly shows that failures like May and Southgate …..

 

Lots of talk today in various quarters about Leeds liking Liverpool’s Neco Williams. Forget the bollox about him being a 20yo Welsh International, its Wales ffs. Yes at least he plays unlike Tyler Roberts…… but anyway this one does actually make sense because hes young and plays anywhere in attacking midfield and is first team Liverpool squad played first team games in league and CL, a real prospect who will push Klich, Rodrigo and Harrison. So it could be bollox but if correct he will be cheap and able to progress under Bielsa?
