When I had my covid jab, the nurse said, GP surgeries did not do vaccinations till they were offered £25 a shot... can anyone confirm that?
We're not in a current Covid hotspot, but there is concern that we are between 2 counties where there are increasing levels of the Delta variant, so the time between 1st and 2nd jabs has been reduced. On Friday my wife needed to see a Nurse Practitioner or a GP for antibiotics (she often develops cellulitis after insect bites so this is routine). She sent in a photo of the infected arm and got a reply on Saturday that the first available consult was 7th July. Yesterday she did the 'ring the surgery at 8am' lottery to find out they had no Nurses in and only 3 GP appointments available per day to hand out and that she should go to A&E. After a 2hr wait just for triage there then would have bern a 5 hr wait to be seen for treatment assessment in A&E. But, as at this stage they said she might need surgery to insert a drain and an overnight stay on IV antibiotics, so they sent her up to the surgery pre-assessment ward where there was only a 4hr wait. Seen by a nurse but needed another 2 hr wait for a surgical reg consult. She was then told they now had no beds so could only be given oral antibiotics BUT the hospital pharmacy was now closed and she'd have to come back to the ward tomorrow to collect them. Such is the current state of primary healthcare here in NE Wales, where Covid rates are low.
As a relatively wealthy country, we spend a lower proportion of our GDP than many comparable countries, even more so considering the age of our population. We need lots more hospitals and medical staff... It is a bit rich that we argue we cannot afford it...how do other countries do it, but not us.
Newspapers make their money through site hits. So they have no qualms in being vauge with the headlines to you think it's clovid related. Not clicked on it but I bet that little detail is near the end? Giving all those ads time to load and start ringing in the cash. I always copy and paste so not to give the ****ers any extra pennies Careless is too polite with these **** houses mate. Calculated.
Nailed on mate. My village has just had three estates built on the edge (not for the first time buyers ofcourse) the services haven't been adjusted to deal with this and the health center is utter chaos a result. It just can't cope
BBC reporting A&Es 'overwhelmed' by children with mild winter viruses, doctors warn. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-57583733
As a parent I have done it myself - if you get no reponse from local surgery you go to A&E. - better safe than sorry. "More than 72% - or 17,000 of the children attending - were not seriously unwell."
