I can see the day trips from the cruise ships berthed off The Deep proving popular. Roll up roll up, day trips to erm, Walton Street car boot sale, Wednesday and Sunday mornings only.
FFS, and Liverpool are annoyed about losing their World Heritage status. Where did we miss out ?

That's what I said. If they'd got hold of what they really wanted, they'd have got rid of the club as soon as they could. We'll become very vulnerable if the day comes that the SMC and club aren't owned by the same person.

Be a bit of a bugger if that terminal doesn't come along. The delights those happy trippers will miss out on.

It still amazes me that we still have a divided support.
When I met with HCC I given the distinct impression that West Park was specifically restricted. The response I had was very very negative and the boundaries of the park where very tight. In essence, even the gap between the fairground and the walkways has been given a status, that will stop development. This un tended strip is considered a vital component of the park.
The triangle is a designated area. The fairground is politically protected. The footprint of the stadium, arena, astro pitches and car park is very well defined and when I suggested building a multi story car park with a hotel on the top of it on part of the existing car park (A little like the Premier Inn near the deep) I was told that this was a non starter. When pressed as to why, the answer seemed to be, because it would be disruptive. To whom, I don't know.
I suggested an inner city showground and conference centre, with improvements to West Park that would allow it to be used in the form of a county show. No, that would not be possible as it would damage the eco-structure. ie Trees.

Every suggestion was met with a shake of the head.

My impression was and still is, that anything that is put forward would need to have more spent on getting approval, than actually doing.

Hull City could have new owners, but it would not matter. There is no money in building a hotel, conference centre, using the triangle or anything that impacts in any way on the site. It would be less difficult to move the club into central London and knock down Buckingham Palace to build a new stadium.

    Respect for trying and suggesting.
Why is it like that do you think ?
As for 'politically protected' WTF doe's that mean ?
The straight bat attitude from the council like this does nothing but fan the rumours of back handers and jobs for the boys etc.
Just how much power do the Showmans Guild hold over this council ?

Politically protected, there is no way that any political party will support any change of use and the consultation process that it would require.
Personally I think that everything that could be done to stop club owners developing the area was put in place and double nailed on to make it secure.
I spoke to Chartered surveyors who work on major stadium developments and they basically said, why not build out of town?

That simply isn’t true, that was just the half-arsed spin. Are you writing a book based on that story? Good luck with that!

Are you using your inside information to write a book on the name change stating that it 'simply isn't true' and based on half-arsed spin ? Good luck with that.

Well I know a dozen people who were in the room when Assem said the name change was nothing to do with overseas markets. That’s good enough for me.

I asked a councillor to set up a meeting.

The objective was to see if it was worth the time and effort to put anything together. No point in spending the time, just to be knocked back by planning. I outlined several different proposals prior to the meeting. But they never really had any value as right from the start, I was told it would be impossible.
I had just done a couple of jobs for the Chartered Surveyor and his client and it was he who suggested speaking to HCC before he approached his client.
A couple of posters on here were kept in the loop.

So, what was the idea then? Use the name change to pressure HCC into allowing them to develop the stadium? Why would they care? They're only arsed about the eggchasers - which is what i suspect is the real reason they dont want City owners having any greater influence over development of the stadium.

But surely the proposal was to have the club, SMC and stadium owned by the same person. Its a bit of a leap to suggest the opposite.

Also, you suggest they were planning on selling the 'PITA football club' but the general consensus amongst the Allam bashers is that they dont want to sell even without the stadium.
    Cant have it both ways.

He actually wanted to change from Hull City, purely because the name was too close to Hull City Council and he 'wouldn't have Hull City Council basking in the reflective glory of Hull City'. It was all about his fallout with Geraghty, he was absolutely spitting feathers, his rants were completely unreasonable and irrational, he actually seemed unhinged.

Which is exactly what I hinted at earlier today, yet people on here still hang onto every word he said. Example 'Die when you want to etc..'
I also said the trouble started with the initial meeting with Terry Geraghty. It was downhill from there.

Oh i read it, just dont see the consistency with what you suggest and the proposal that was on the table.

We simply dont know what the eventual intention was - other tham to limit the liability of allamhouse in relation to the running costs of the club.

I strongly suspect the club would be more attractive as an investment if club, stadium and smc were all under the same ownership though, not piecemeal.
