Wasn't picking at you. I just thought it was "starting to look like overkill" ages ago, because I thought it in 1997 when that came out.

ahh right, yeh sorry marra if it came over wrong.

as i said it seems to have been 'drip fed' for a few years but lately it is going mental.. i mean taking a daft one, there seems to be a massive over-use of rap* in adverts lately.

*or to give it the scientific name... crap!

I love star wars. But am not defensive over it. It was a great film for me when I was a kid. My daughter’s middle name is Leia!!

    no probs!

What do think of [rap music in adverts]?
"I think it would be a good idea" - Ghandi

Ha, I love hip-hop, but from that perspective little worthy of the name appears in adverts yet. All they provide is relentless cynicism dressed up as diversity.

Despite what these adverts and television programmes portray Great Britain is mainly populated by White British people (86%). The vast majority of whom will be heterosexual and born into the Christian faith. Why the makers of these things feel the need to project an image of Britain that is very different to this is very strange indeed, and begs the question, why?

Some will be basic spreadsheet capitalism. It says "Diversity = $$$" on someone's spreadsheet, so coked up yuppies try to implement that without much more thought.

I figure where stuff's filmed has an effect. Like, I dunno but I'd assume more agencies will based be in London/Manchester than Sunderland or the Cotswold.

95% of the UK's advertising agency is based in London, traditionally Soho.

Maybe 4% in Manchester in the form of two branches of very big agencies.

And then maybe 1% elsewhere. And that 1% is a bit of a joke to be honest.

Advertising is going through a huge amount of "diversification" basically getting more women and BAME individuals inboard, especially in creative departments.
