I sort agree as to where you are coming from, I seem to recall a similar feeling from quite a few over the signing of Wilbraham, I have long stopped judging signings before a) it is proved to be a true story and b) sometimes the Wilbraham's of this world make some eat their words.

I suspect it's bollox, I quickly looked on OTIB and couldn't find the post on the first 2 pages, if it is true I suspect it will be a short term performance related deal ala Baker.

Interestingly I am fairly sure Carroll blamed the 2 Ashton rehab team, who later went to Arsenal and then us and now Ipswich, for f****** up his injury rehab whilst at West Ham.

I wouldn't mind him at AG to be honest. He's old, but there is no way NP would allow him to graze out his final days with us. He'd be expected to put in a shift.

But will his knees let him put in a shift...? Hell of an asset if he can stay fit. If we could get him on a pay as you play contract for a year with a view to a better deal at the end of the season, then it may be worth looking at. Having someone like Caroll is a good option to go long when you're struggling, I just hope that wouldn't turn into our style of play if he joined. I'm sure Nakhi Wells would disagree with me though<laugh>

As I said earlier, I would think this rumour is not true, but who knows?

I am sure that if it is true he would be on a similar deal to Baker, more appearance/fitness based.

As for style, part of problem is when we were holding on in games in the past 2 seasons, normally a 'target man' takes the pressure off of midfield and defence by holding the ball up, Diedhiou could not do that for toffee. We need the target man option, Wells and Conway are quite similar and I have always thought Weimann's best position is a number 10, but with the option of playing wide, I suppose the answer is having a team from back to front who can adapt to different conditions, formations and tactics. Smith of Rotherham in both games against us showed how weak our squad had become, he terrorised us and scored in each game.

Well we should have a huge heads up on him, because we employed 2 of the people that he blamed for exacerbating his injury whilst at West Ham, also several of our own injured who have the same opinion from their personal experiences of them.

That's what I thought, but I spoke to a good mate of mine, who's a massive Toon fan and he said he was fit for most of the season. Bruce just stopped using him.

Well we do look toothless up front, need some aggression, Martin doesn’t do it for me, Smith/Carrol type would do for me

Really? I would say he has the potential to reach that value, but in today's market can you honestly see anyone offering £6 million for him? I can't! I don't see that he is the highest value player in our squad, over say Bentley or Kalas. To me this is typical lazy press, they probably saw he came from Monaco (a fairly prominent name in European football) and that Thierry Henry raved about him as a kid; therefore he has to be the highest value player at little ole Bristol City. Anyone who has seen him since he joined City would know that he has huge potential, but is also a long way from our best player and most valued asset. At least in my eyes, and I reckon more than a few others on here.

    On what evidence?

    + Has great engine.

    - Not physically strong enough, passing is poor and looks as though he couldn't score in a brothel.

The 21-year-old has agreed terms on a three-year deal from Carlisle United, with the option of a further 12 months.
Tanner, who predominantly operates at right-back, arrived at the Robins High Performance this morning to undergo his medical, meet his new teammates and staff, before conducting his media duties.

On the signing, Nigel Pearson said: “When building a squad, it’s always important to have an eye on the future as well as the present. Signing George represents this point perfectly.
“Our Academy is excellent in producing players capable of making the progression to the first team arena preferably with us, but it is also important to look for players for the future from elsewhere too.
“George was a part of the Man Utd Academy, and he’s broken into the Carlisle United first team and there’s real promise for further development.”
Tanner joined Manchester United as a youngster and secured a place on their scholarship programme before signing his first professional contract with them in January 2018.
He has since had spells on loan at Morecambe and Salford before joining Carlisle United in August 2020 on a two-year deal.
Tanner made a total of 48 appearances for the Blues, scoring three goals.

    From Roy DeAlien

Jordan Ibe had a long chat with Nigel Pearson over Zoom today the video platform is Nigel's preferred choice to conduct these meetings. I am told both parties were certainly impressed with each other. Nothing more as yet but great start! #BristolCity #JordanIbe #dcfc #lfc
