    I'm confused by this news as I thought it broke during the Euros, although maybe this is just the official offer and previously it was just an indication they were going to? I'm sure I saw White or someone break it a month ago.

    So the odds of three coming in over the next six hours are looking slimmer by the minute. Hopefully they're all in place before next Friday at noon so we can get them registered to play.

    A bid has been mooted all summer, it was a fairly safe prediction to go for, but the day after the tweet you posted (which was widely shared), Villa announced that they hadn't received any bid from anyone.

    Last week, Villa were still discussing new terms with him, in the hope of convincing him to stay with them.

    If it's true that a £100m bid has gone in now, you'd expect him to be on his way soon.

    Yeah for sure. I guess my musing was whether there was some sort of clause in his release that only activated on 1 August but as you say maybe just more discussions in the background now culminating.
