Think that maybe with the exception of the horse events and shooting they are all as hard as nails. Suspect that your average footballers fitness would be nowhere near as high as theirs.

One of the advantages of being on the hotel quarantine here is the chance to watch lots of the Olympics. Been watching the Rugby 7's quarter finals today which were outstanding. GB came back from 21-0 down to win 26-21 but the best performance was Argentina against South Africa. They lost a player to a red card after 3mins, then went 7-0 down, before bouncing back with two amazing tries by their winger. They then went 19-7 up before South Africa scored another and Argentina had a 2nd guy sent off near the end so they finished with 5 players but won it 19-14.

Worth finding the video and watching it.

Rugby Sevens final, Fiji v New Zeakand. Fiji players wailing during the national anthem. Hard not to be moved watching that emotion.

Woke up jetlagged at a ridiculous time this morning and watched the Swimming. The Brits who swam the 2nd leg in the 4X200m freestyle relay was crying his eyes out when we were still swimming the last leg, comfortably ahead. He then cried all the way through the interview and during the medal ceremony. Marvelous stuff. There was an amazing swim by an 18-year old Welshman on the 3rd leg. Just took the field apart.

Obscure sport of the day - BMX bike racing. Amazing stuff. Looks like a load of adults who have stolen kids bikes.

Favourite from the commentator: He can generate enough horsepower to get Mike Ashley into space.

Love the fact that the BMX girl wasn’t lottery funded and wins gold but the rowing team funded to millions of pounds and doesn’t.

These mixed relays are superb. Don’t know why they didn’t have them before. We just won gold and set a new world record in 4x100m mixed swimming medley. Teams all used different tactics so had men swimming against women. Makes it really interesting as you can’t tell who is going to win until last one is in water.

in the 4X 400m mixed running heats yesterday the Americans were disqualified and they didn’t say why. Probably during the post-race Penis count.

Castor Semanya was in the South African team and ran both a men’s and women’s leg.

USA disqualified as out of hand over section on one of the hand overs. Apparently official was not telling runners where to stand and USA plus 2 other teams were confused due to the number of lines in that section.

In true USA fashion they’re apparently appealing.

Waching the boxing this morning. Brit guy Fraser-clarke went through to semis when his French opponent was disqualified for continuous use of the head. Cut the Brit twice with it. Last time the Brit pulled back quickly after the head clash while French guy was going for an upper cut and ended up punching himself in the face.

French guy furious and is now staging a sit down protest next to the ring. However it was the last bout so nobody cares.
