He is supposed to be, that's what's holding up the Slater deal. I'd take Iqbal at Manchester United as well. Tommy Doyle is very promising, though I think he's too good a talent to be playing back up to our lot.
I agree, if we were to get him, he'd start alongside Docherty ahead of Smallwood for me. We need someone more agile in that role. No disrespect to Smallwood but I thought he struggled against teams that pressed high in League 1. He's a great leader but technically he's nowhere near good enough for the Championship. I don't think Huddlestone is the solution to that holding midfield problem either. We all know Huddlestone's ability but his style of play slows the game down to his tempo to dictate play. Crowley was a technically-gifted player but just didn't suit our current system as well. I'd still take Tom back as a player-coach though.
Agree with this. Of the 2 midfielders we're looking for, one has to be able to play the high energy Honeyman role. It's been obvious from pre-season that it's what we're missing. Signing Regan and Tom as the 2 wouldn't make sense. We need 1 defensive midfielder but 2 would be overkill. If Tom signs as a bonus then great but everybody seems to have forgotten that there's clearly a reason that he's not had a Championship offer in 2 summers now. Other champ clubs obviously don't fancy him & I doubt money is the issue. He certainly doesn't suit our style. Agree with the Crowley reference too, probably the most technical player we had, but he just didn't suit our style
According to Cheltenham, Crowley's agent moved the goal post's at the last minute, the club pulled out unhappy at the way Crowley and his agent had behaved.
Possibly, but if Slater is on his way here, which looks more likely, it's probably not going to be a central midfielder, more likely a wide man. Sheyi Ojo is available for loan and had a good spell at Rangers last year winning the title. EDIT: Scratch that, it's not somebody from Liverpool according to Baz.
harry kane, he has heard we are the best run club in the country. whoever it is, it's very intriguing. are we going to lose our socks over it?
He's calling himself Steven these days and if I remember right he said he wasn't playing football any more.
