It's pretty much all done and complete, he was at the training ground today so I'm lead to believe. Hopefully it's announced tomorrow.... He's very very very well thought of at man city

 

Any idea what type of player he is, defensive minded ? Attacking style ? Box to box ? Or a good distributor? Sorry but as per normal, I have no idea about him.

 

Defensive midfielder? I assume Slater isnt coming as well then?

 

Defensive midfielder, has approx 100 senior apps and I think 16 apps for Wales. I don't remember him but apparently did well at Donny last season. It's all very hush hush this one for some reason

 

I think he’ll have to prove his fitness, Unless I’m wrong but In this economic climate and our current squad ability, I don’t think we can have players who can’t play

 

I think with Tom it will be more his sharpness that needs to be polished rather then his overall fitness, he's kept himself in great shape, but no matter how hard you train... Unless your at a club playing, your match sharpness will drop dramatically. A man of his talent though, it shouldn't take long

25 man squad - 2 players for each position, a third goakeeper leaves 2 addtional spots theoretically. We'd have a lot of moving out to do to be able to carry a wildcard we can gamble with, so yeah. I see your point.

 

I can remember in days past when we had a whole team of players on the pitch who couldn't play.

 

Makes you wonder why hes not in training at Derby with the others they hope to sign/re-sign ahead of the opener. Thats another question mark in my mind. He was released and had no takers for a very long time. I assume its a fitness thing - he is a very 'senior' player these days. Is he gonna be robust enough over a season?

 

I've absolutely no idea, but maybe Rooney didn't want him involved? Maybe tom didn't want to be involved in the circus there?

If he comes to us, I'm almost certain it won't be with a view to being a first team regular, but more of a bit part player as and when needed, more focused on supporting the young squad we have and moving into the coaching phase of his career. ( That's just my opinion and nothing more )

 

Is there space in the squad for that?

Surely we would have more than 25 players of professional standing (having made a senior appearance) at the club already and any more incomings would need outgoings first?

As far as I'm aware the grant hasn't been paid back, but I'm told there has been some changes of the terms over the last few days.

 

we can loan players to replace players we loan out.

 

I think it's more the players that are loaned out don't count towards the squad number, they can be replaced with loans and or free transfers.... But again I'm only going of things I've been told, so you may be right

 

If thats the case then Scott is definitely a loan.
