First chance I've got to come on this since the match properly, great yesterday, get in the full backs and the squad fillers and we could be in for a great season, burge needs to start learning to not parry the ball back in the 6 yard box mind other then that it was great, evans could be the capture of the season for me if he stays fit and keeps playing like that

I mostly agree with them player ratings, but for me Burge was very shaky and I'd only give him 5/10, Sort the out the full back problems, another CB and get a higher quality GK and I think we'll go up.

Looks like we had the biggest attendance in England yesterday excluding the community shield. Not too bad at all.

My nephew bought a ticket for yesterday’s game. He was straight on this morning to sort a season ticket :emoticon-0148-yes: I hope the positive performance has encouraged a few more.

If a player has confidence in his own ability he shouldn't need a contract that insists on a certain percentage of game time IMO.

I don’t know if it was just my red and white specs but Wyke gave a lot of free kicks away last season, yet yesterday he got away with a lot, despite nudging at every challenge, even leading up to the goal he nudged Flanagan and was a clear free kick. He had no intention of getting the ball whatsoever
Then gobshite Power on at the referee at every opportunity.

The Wigan players, and some coach, came out and set up their little warm up session amongst the kids waving flags.

If it happens again someone needs to tell them to f**k off.

How is Callum Doyle shaping up?
Looks a real player in his age group but it’s a different ball game at this level for a 17 yr old

Very impressed so far in pre-season and yesterday.
He looks total class - very confident for a 17yr old

    Absolutely love these <laugh>
But the funniest bit is those Wigan romper suits they turned up in ...

... they looked like a group of mutant toddlers coming on a stadium tour.

I never noticed that. What I did notice was them young kids waving them flags for quite a while. Bet they had aching limbs at the end of that.

Tell you what was nice. Having a forward who when the ball went on his head he actually directed it somewhere.

Every ball on Wyke’s head had to go forward.

What a beast of a player he is at 17 years of age. Definitely going to be an England international.
And he's a talker too, telling Flanagan where to pass the ball on several occasions and helping Dan Neil cover the LFB area.

Outstanding player with a great future ahead of him.
