Like the change in recruitment policy. No has been players looking for a last pay day clogging up our wage bill for years. Get a few more in the right areas and I will be chuffed. The Alves deal seemed to happen so quick. I haven't seen him play but the reports from West Ham fans seem very promising
Apparently Cirkin will wear number 17. It'll be interesting to see which number Alves takes, possibly the 5? That leaves 2, 7 and 9 to fill.
Agree, desperate for another striker but who isn’t ? That’ll go to the last week or day of the window I think.
We’ve definitely taken a gamble on young hungry players with less experience, we have to get the coaching, organisation, wrap around right to help them, they need to get streetwise quickly against the likes of Gillingham but for me it’s a gamble worth taking. Our pace, energy and technical ability are all better with our recent signings and they clearly needed improving. We’ve lost a bit of experience but that wasn’t all good experience.
Fully agree with this but with the likes of McGeady, Pritchard, Gooch, Evans, O'Nien and even Flanagan the balance is pretty good as it stands.
Definitely. We've basically had decent pros at this level, just a full team of them. Sticking 4-5 young hungry lads in there completely changes the side
I know it's early days, and I know I'm getting carried away, but the last time I felt this way about the season was after we'd missed out on the prem on penna's to Charlton. We just knew we had a top team and were gonna walk the league. Please be true again!
I think the young lads add athleticism and a bit of dynamism to the side. Pace, an eagerness to graft and an opportunity to show everyone what they're about. Certainly with the loan lads Doyle and Alves, they're clearly here to make their parent clubs sit up and take notice that they can cut it in the mens game in this country, justifying why they're rated.
Know what you mean but Reid had a full season before we got promotion so his, squad was really up and running after the Charlton disappointment. Johnson is basically starting at 50%, and the new young additions are a bit of a gamble but one I'm happy to take. Give me young hungry lads trying to impress and improve as opposed to seasoned players who didn't give a sh1t. None of us have a Crystal ball but I'm willing to bet we stake a claim to a top two spot early in the season and then hang into it, possibly finishing top only time will tell. Can't wait to see the season unfold.
Well seeing as there’s a couple laying claim to my head buried in the sand full blown red n white wearing spectacle bias happy clapping optimistic approach to being a Sunderland supporter I’m having us down to win the league by mid April. And I thought this before last week. Beat that mother ****as. HTL KTF
Hold on, I'll ask her..........nah no time at the moment. To be fair I cant get her off Amazon Prime. Bloody spend spend spend.
Think our squad is shaping up really well. I fit one believed in our recruitment team to get the right players in before the end of the window. Any league winning team has to have that blend of youth and experience and I think we are getting there. A few more additions and I think we will certainly be challenging this season. I’m cautiously optimistic for the future of our club and ****ing hell does it feel good!
