That was a great result and I'm delighted we didn't fold under pressure. Ralph seems to have got the substitutions spot on and I couldn't be more pleased for Jack Stephens. This picture pretty much sums up how valuable a player he can be for us if given the chance.....

And several non-neutrals on here and other social media disgraces, games lost and the team relegated before pre-season is finished.

In the first half, when the ref stopped play when we had the ball, because Greenwood had been lightly caressed on his chin, but rolled around as if shot, Stephens had a right go at the ref, saying “****ing bollocks” on two occasions to the ref. I thought he was going to talk himself into a yellow card at the time.
Can’t help thinking that if this ref had been at Goodison, the quick free kick Everton took, leading to the second goal, wouldn’t have been given as a free kick.
Been saying it for a long time. Refs need to understand that there will be bodily contact throughout the game and not every contact is a foul, just a coming together in an honest attempt to win the ball, just like Stephens v Cry Baby Bruno.

I’ve predicted us to go down in every season I’ve supported the team, regardless of the year.

The reason neutrals think like this is because nobody cares about Saints so we don’t get any coverage apart from “player has left, they’re ****ed”

When I speak to my mates most of them didnt even realise we had signed anyone so just assumed we had the same squad minus Bertrand, Ings and Vestergaard

I would love us to win every game with several unstoppable genius goals....but I will also accept a game that we win because a blind ref missed several fouls and a nailed on penalty. Three points is three points come the end of the season.

That is the sort of attitude we have needed for a long time.

We need 11 nasty bastards playing for us each week.

We have been the nice guys for far too long.

Thinking about our goal yesterday we finally got some good luck. When was the last time we got a lucky deflection like that? That ball could have gone anywhere after it came off Fred. It just so happened that it was perfectly placed from our point of view. Also that goalmouth scramble in the first 5 minutes - how we didn't concede I will never know. It felt like lady luck was on our side for the first time in a long time yesterday.

Brendan Rodgers saying it's a definite foul. Can the **** make me loathe him anymore?

Fine margins indeed but the overall performance merited any good fortune we may have had. The most pleased me the most is the way that the lads played in the final quarter of the game and we really might've snatched all the points in the end and that is a stark difference to the way most of 2021 has gone.
Maybe a full pre-season and a less hectic schedule could see less burn out after Xmas with hopefully better luck with injuries too. It should be easier to recover from them now that the facilities ay Staplewood can be used fully presumably.

I can't believe people are still twatting on about it. It wasn't a foul, but regardless, if it had been against a Saints player it would never, ever have been mentioned again.

Hope they get completely twatted by Wet Spam and Steptoe gets sent off.

Just realised he's in my fantasy team, still maybe Cresswell and Soucek can score to boost my points!

I'm torn. I absolutely loathe both clubs. But I have far more respect for Moyes so yeah, West Ham win for me.

They were asked about how they felt games are being reffed now. He said it's a lot better but yesterday's was a definite foul the ****er.

So a Leicester player got sent on for “stepping” on someone’s ankle. They do say oracular visions are imprecise!

Thing is, if it was a "clear foul" (or, in fact, the opposite) it wouldn't be being discussed. The fact it's being discussed means that it was a marginal decision either way.

Referees have (rightly) been told to be more lenient on the marginal decisions this year.

    Ergo, it's no foul.

END OF DISCUSSION SKY AND OTHER MANAGERS! (Just like it wouldn't have even been a discussion the other way round).

And the most important factor is that if we hadn’t had the effrontery to score a goal against Man United immediately afterwards, Fernandes, Souness, Rodgers, and all the others would have instantly forgotten about it.
