Aye quite clear to see. I did actually think the visor was an odd choice as didn’t match makes sense now
Not sure why folk are upset cos Murray sees himself as Scottish and is proudly so. So did my paternal grandparents. My guess is most fans on here see themselves as Mackems not geordies, identity is important... it is to me...I am a proud, Northerner, Englishman and Brit, probably in that order. Murray survived Dunblane but still supports the town by investing there. He us very proud of his GB Olympic gold.. When he had been on TV shows he always with his English wife, comes across is a decent guy.
Absolutely. I’m absolutely Mackem/English, not British. I’ve a Scottish grandfather and an Italian grandmother. I’m English.
I see myself as Geordie/British and wish the Jocks would stop trying to break us up. No surrender, Sturgeons a bender.
Its even worse for me through the Scottish connection, I have (distant now) relatives on Nova Scotia, I am probably the Last of the Monhicans
Aryana Sabalenka wore exactly the same outfit as Emma. She is from Belarus!! Is it possible that it was just an attractive outfit. Raducanu has said she picked it because red is her favourite colour.
Just been chatting with a mate of, an even older more curmudgeonly than me. However we both agreed that this is one of the most amazing sporting achievements that we can remember. Neither of us is that keen on tennis... Leicester winning the Premiership? Similar
I used to enjoy watching Andy Murray on the court. I've heard people complain he classes himself as Scottish not British, he is always miserable blah blah blah. The bloke was committed and wanted to win and he is Scottish and British aswell. The majority of people who have a problem with him being Scottish not British would say they are English. Oh and he once said he likes to see the England football team get beat. So **** he is Scottish why would he not?
Definitely agree with this. No wildcard for the US open, no problems for Emma, she’ll just qualify and win the whole damn thing anyway Mr McEnroe
Early days, but she has is being well schooled/advised about the Commercial Side. That smile is an advertising dream, so she was part of the way there after Wimbledon. The references to Romania have been covered. Afterwards she had a TV link to China where she thanked her Fans there, in Chinese. The New York fans seemed to favour her opponant, not realising that she too was born in Canada. She identifies herself as British. My only concern is that The British Press will build her up with their usual over-enthusiastic hype, just so they can knock her down at the first opportunity. I wish her only the very best in the hope that we will witness that smile for very many years to come.
Best thing now mate is she's nowt to lose having won a grand slam. She'll have her own pressure but she's got a free run.
