Threw this away. Hopefully this night end the sitting on a lead. Midfield needed strengthening when they were controlling the game. Another game where Gooch was quiet, he might be helping out in defence but he's being played in a front three and for me, he's not really contributing. McGeady also had a quiet game - maybe this system isn't playing to his strengths or maybe he's still playing catch up with his fitness but for me, I think changes need to be made

 

It's a habit of his I'm not fond of. I honestly thought he'd go at teams for the full 90mins but he's got a touch of Jack Ross about him the way he tries to close the game off and hold on to a lead.

 

Shame but you can't win them all. I bet we nearly do though.

 

I thought he was OK. We were too soft in the centre imo

 

Ref forgot how to count to 5 and played 7 minutes. 96:14 he gave their penalty. Played basically till they scored

Got what we deserved. Hope LJ stops with this weekly routine of trying to defend leads rather than grow them. Should be dominating matches, not holding on to them

 

Well that was like a blast from the past, throwing away a game from a great position.

Fair enough if that's what it was. I thought it was just after 95, and it's a minimum of 95. Add to that the fact that they had launched the ball into the box, I'd have been pissed off if it was us and he blew as the ball came in

 

Could have put a bit of distance between the chasing pack but negative management cost us imo. Piss take when you look at our squad.

 

I'm emotional and annoyed so this is going to look awfully petty in the light of day, but screw it.

You can tell why LJ has only ever managed to get teams playing well and near promotion but not actually get over the line. On evidence so far, he struggles with managing a side that should be winning. He gets in a winning position and wants to desperately hold onto it, rather than treat it as business as usual.

Hopefully we keep getting into winning positions and he starts getting used to it and wanting to keep pushing.

But for a manager who's whole ethos seems to be that of a thinking manager, shoving on a 3rd centre back to defend the last 10 minutes every single time you're in the lead is not really evidence of somebody who actually knows how to do it.

gutted here like, i prefer to give opposition credit where due and to be fair they kept going but imho they deserved nothing from that game.

wright was basically standing his ground, did not hold the player down or deck him which you see from every corner/ball into the box but did seem to have a hold of his shirt.

gooch needs a break i think, said to my son that you want to see gooch in there going at them (which he hardly did today) if this was down to instructions then it is not a good idea.

basically, they were rewarded for throwing that flare/smoke bomb as the penalty was after the 5 mins added time...never ever been a fan of this 'defending a lead' as up till the last 25 minutes we more or less controlled that game but the sitting deeper cost us as it has many times in the past, let's hope this is the end of that and we start to kill teams off.

 

Just had a good look at the footage and it was Wright who was pulling his shirt that he gave the pen for, also think he added the extra minutes onto the original 5 because of the flare that their fans threw on
