If a cruiserweight can go up to heavyweight and beat the unified champion in his third fight, it exposes the current division as a bit of a joke. There’s some decent heavyweights knocking about today but the gap in quality compared to the 90s is huge. Wilder is a crap boxer with a powerful right hand, Joshua’s decent but seriously lacking technical ability compared to the likes of Usyk and Fury. I like Dillian Whyte and his comeback following his defeat to Joshua is admirable and I’ve always been a fan of Del Boy too but current heavyweight boxing is just a bit **** and underwhelming compared to the 90s Joshua in particular seems more bothered about his brand and celeb status than cementing his legacy as a boxer. Another Frank Bruno imo.
Holyfield had more fights in heavyweight before he fought Douglas than Usyk has had before beating Joshua. Holyfield was considered a serious contender to beat Douglas, whereas most people thought Usyk was just a stepping-stone for Joshua before a unification fight with Fury. Out of the current heavyweights, the only one who could even compete with the likes of Holyfield, Tyson, Bowe, Lewis etc. is Fury. The rest are well below-par.
How would you know you weren’t even born when Holyfield first fought Everyone thought he wasn’t big enough as it was too big a jump
People can’t have insight or knowledge on things that happened in the past if they weren’t around at the time. Someone better tell all the historians this so they can have a career change.
Good glad we agree As someone who was around It was reported he wasn’t big enough to make the step up to heavyweight Anything else about the 80’s you want to know just drop me a post
It was reported? So you got that information second-hand from media sources? Did you see him fight live? Just trying to wrap my head around why you’d be a more reliable source than the other people I know who remembered heavyweight boxing in the 80s and 90s and all of the evidence easily available online.
Holyfield was a light heavy then a cruiser Not a heavy weight he built himself up while the others named were natural heavyweights It’s not difficult But you’re a bit boring and like to go on and on and on so carry on
When you look at Fury's record it's really not that great other then Klitschko and Wilder twice. The next best opponent is probably Derek Chisora. Then you look Joshua's recorded, Parker, Klitschko, Pulev, Whyte, Povetkin, Takam, Breazeale, he took on Ruiz at short notice and Usyk who is P4P great. I have sneaky feeling for Wilder to beat Fury. Fury just doesn't seem as focused.
Tyson used to walk to the ring without music, black shorts and boots (without socks) and with a towel with a hole cut in the middle over his head. Joshua’s entrance resembled a Barry Manilow concert. Or at least what I imagine a Barry Manilow concert would look like. Chazz?
Fury has his eyes on WWE and or a career in politics with the amount of ****e he talks! For example his promise to for gut dillian Whyte in December..... Everyone knows he is talking crap and nobody believes it will happen! I still wouldn't be shocked if the wilder fight didn't happen Until he actually defends a belt he isn't a great boxer let alone a great champion.
Come on Galante, you went to a Barry Manilow gig didn't you. And you're going to blame your missus because she begged you to go with her. The truth is you went on your own didn't you....
