Liked Richards trying to justify him and then saying they needed both him and Kane. They needed to go spend 250m on 2 players to try compete I agree with carra in that city didn’t need him. He’s a nice player to have but go spend that 100m towards Kane. Put it this way would you rather have Grealish Torres Jesus or Foden Kane Jesus Or foden kane mahrez Just didn’t see the need for city to buy him especially not for that price. For 100m attacker i want someone that’s going to score me either 30 goals in the prem, or if they’re more creative player than get me 10 goals and 20 assists like kdb. Don’t see Grealish getting those numbers.
Which is why I surprised Tsimikas isn’t playing there. He’s capable with his right foot. Started season well. And see many players play at LB when right footed in cancello, lahm, Irwin rtc. Maybe didn’t want to risk it in this game but think should be tried as Milner is hit and miss there.
Could say we got routed in the first half, but it wasn't a real rout as they couldn't and didn't score, they totally dominated the ball and overwhelmed us though, they just lacked any ideas once they got in our box, or let us off a bit. That was partly down to the creativity of their play and partly us just being way off the necessary standard. The second half was obviously a lot better but we still let them back in it twice and it felt like we were a soft touch. Fair enough result really.
Now the heart has stopped rocking round my chest and I've slightly calmed down I can appreciate what a great half of football that was. Salahs goal will only be a part when it deserved to be defining. I'm still hopeful for the season, not so much because we seem exceptional, but more because no team looks ready to run away with it. City don't look anywhere near their best, im unsure on Chelsea and then there's us, rocking along unbeaten. You've got utd and Everton flattering to deceive, ones got a great manager and a mediocre team, the other the opposite. Everyone else are a level below. I really can't separate the top 3 at the moment, it coukd be a very exciting season.
I do think it’s very easy to overanalyse I thought it was 2 great sides and a fabulous game as a showpiece for the premier league But I do find my annual trip to Anfield like going to the dentist for a root canal
Think Pep made a point and a dig at chelsea by saying these two teams go for it in the big games and put on a show compared to some others that sit back. Always a tense game and with the styles can easily get any results from a 0-0 to a 4-1 to either side tbh and everything in between.
Difficult what top make of that . A poor first half followed by a stunning second the highlight being a sublime goal by Mo . While they were the better team over the 90 it still feels a bit like 2 points dropped , PS wish they had sold B Silva in the summer as he was top notch today PPS really disappointed in Henderson and Jones today .
It was an abject first half. Matip looked on tenterhooks all game, very awkward and nervy. Henderson was awful. If he wasn't kicking it aimlessly away he was on his heels. Jones was ran about and bypassed and never once got to grips with his defensive zone. Both their goals came from failure to make any tackle in his area. But look on the brightside. We didn't play 100mil for grealish as he was a joke. The only thing that stopped them scoring first half was him. Useless
Idiot fans spitting at City back room staff Whats wrong with people. It’s always been gross and disgusting thing to do abs hopefully get life time ban, but it’s like people have forgotten the whole covid thing over the last 18 months where personal hygiene has been drummed into everyone every day
If true, and I have no reason to doubt it, it’s absolutely disgusting and disgraceful and shames the club. Name, shame, ban and disown the responsible party.
Yeah and it's the only thing the press are talking about. Same as bottling their bus. Imo lifetime ban whoever paid 77 pounds for a ticket to do that.
In more positive news, vid of that Salah goal from multiple angles. Just doesn’t get boring watching it. Really shame it wasn’t the winner or in a winning game but the touch, control, dribbling abs then the finish off his weaker foot. Just pure class. The little drag back flick with the left then flick forward with the right to get past silva on the floor prob my fav bit. Makes it look effortless. Funny thing is not even first time he’s done it. Not overly dissimilar to the one v spurs couple years ago. Gonna be some goal to beat that as goal of the season.
The second half was utterly compelling and Salah's goal out of this world. The first wasn't bad either!
and Neville could not give Mo the mom outright, he had to share it with Foden, who was good to be fair, just not Salah good.
