Winner on the flat so should have the ability for a race like this if taking to hurdles.Trainer Ed De Giles who mainly operates on the flat has a good each way record with his few hurdlers this season. David Bass an eyecatching booking. Stable amongst the winners recently. Could run well for each way purposes today.

Getting to the fag end of the Flat now but a reasonably competitive Handicap at Pontefract interested me. Alpha Cru has had a good season for David O'Meara and proved that she could win on soft ground last time out. With only 5 career starts the daughter of Australia is far from exposed and when she was 4th earlier this season it was over 10F and she didn't seem to get home. Back to a mile today she could still be feasibly handicapped on 80, just 2 lbs higher than her last win.

    2.44 Pontefract Grand Cru 6/1

Danny Tudhope decided to take Grand Cru right over to race all alone. When the others came across to join her later several had a good advantage over her. She stayed on for 4th place (collared for 3rd late) but it seemed clear that the jockey's plan had not paid off.

Well, 40/1 shot RUN THIS WAY employed similar tactics an hour later and hosed up so I would be wary of making excuses for your tip when assessing its chances next time it runs!
