It's incredible that anyone would think that in order to win the league you don't have to compete with the best in it.

I guess unless we have the best side and all the others are **** we shouldn't expect to win anything. <laugh>

Hold on a sec... maybe when you're competing against 3 other top sides for the league, having a decent manager can make all the difference. Just a thought like <whistle>

That logic followed your statements and arguments. You said one of the best squads. Not me. Of course City’s and Chelsea’s squads don’t have World Cup, Euro, or champions league winners. We have the very best players.

Great point! You caught me! We do indeed have a very bang average squad. Perhaps below average by your logical standards. Not even a great manager like Ole can make average players perform - we all absolutely know this. And given we have yet to play any of those teams yet we are already trailing all of them, your point from that post is absolutely valid.

Harry Maguire is apparently set to receive boost in wages to £300k/week from £190k even though he has 4 years to run on his current contract.

Who is running this club? Overpay bunch of underachievers and reward them with new contracts.

You have a point. The wages paid to the top players is rarely just about the huge fortune they represent however. They seem to indicate the hierarchy within the team and the importance of that player to the team /club. Could have been one of the consequences of CR’s arrival.

look at the RS with their Egyptian star player for example. He is being paid “almost a pittance “, less than VVD reported wages of 220k. Without him, they are probably mid table and yet they refuse to give him the going rate of top players like DeBryune, Sterling, Lukaku and even players not as good as him. The RS ex players like carragher and Fowler are apparently begging their club to give him what he wants but they are holding out as they don’t want unhappiness in their squad, especially from VVD who may want to retain his current status as top dog. That is the club being caught between a rock and a hard place. Give in and you could see a wages spiral. Hold out your star player ****s off to a bigger club like Newcastle ;)

Interesting to see who gives in first <laugh>.

I would say that if VVD is on £220k/week, then Maguire should thank his lucky stars for £190k/week.

Im not sure who your highest earner is or what they are on. I'd guess ronny?

But didnt you bring in Sancho on over 300k pw, then ole had bruno bangin on the door for a better deal not a few weeks later. Of course that's gonna happen.

Our lot are tight af, but they struck gold with Klopp, and im not too confident fsgs current model will work as well after hes gone. In saying that tho we are in a much more decent place financially than before they arrived.

Back to your wages though. And its a genuine question, you lot have money to burn and thats not gonna dry up any time soon is it? so im not sure why your wage bill bothers you that much.

For example weve been paying naby Anderton for 3 years just to keep our physios busy. <laugh>

At least maguire fukin plays once in a while <whistle>

The wage bill itself is not what bothers me. Heck, I don’t even know the difference between living on £190k/week versus £300k. I guess maybe I would be able to afford a new Bentley every week after tax. :D

What bothers me though is that I don’t see the output from these players. I don’t see how Maguire deserves a wage increase at this moment in time. It is as though we actively pursue a path for the players to become big-time Charlies.

It's not the financial side that bothers me... or others on here. It's more the case that it creates a culture where players are "comfortable". They get a payrise... just because. And how does that improve performances or drive them on to do better?

With Ronnie, you know he has high expectations of himself and the ambitions of the club and I don't see wages negatively impacting on him. I'm sure of the same for Fernandes.

Of course players like Maguire want to do better as well, but with a player like him I'd want him to prove himself first because our defence is just not good enough at the moment.

There isn't a single Premier League Club that would swap their manager for Ole.

    Not a one.

Not even Watford who are probably regretting hiring Ranieri right about now, would sack him to bring in Ole.

    Truth bomb right there folks.

    Let

    Gary Neville…

United were beaten 4-2 by Leicester on Saturday, with Neville lamenting the lack of organisation in the team and their inability to cope against any 'half decent' team.

Former United defender Neville also stated that the team are extremely weak in terms of pressing the opposition.

Speaking on Sky Sports, Neville said: 'They are nowhere near good enough. The moment they start to play half decent teams they're going to struggle.

'The team performances have been so shoddy all season. There have been some great goals but the overall performances have been shoddy.

'It's been scrappy and scruffy to watch, so when you play against a team that's got an organisation to them, a methodology, you're going to get pulled apart and that's what happening.

'They got pulled apart by Everton, pulled apart by Villa, pulled apart by Villarreal. Today, Leicester, half decent team, good team.

I find it cowardice that these so-called ex-players that laid into previous managers in public in the past are so shy to come out and simply say that Ole is waaaay over his fkin head. It is as simple as that. Neville in his interview still did his best to never mention that the root cause of the problem is the whole coaching staff starting with the manager.

    What a mess!

So what happened to waiting until the end of the season to see if we win anything. Pointless debate right now .

I was never in that camp. If this was a murder case, Ole would have been charged before even facing the jury. No further evidence is required to convict the man.

Someone please shut Gary Neville up:

Let’s not panic here. There’s no need to panic. Everyone will want Manchester United to panic. There’s nothing that can be fixed in the next 10 minutes. Stick to plan, get though the season, see what happens this season.

Obviously if then there isn’t a trophy or it continues to go as it is, then Ole will come under great pressure. He knows that, having been in the job for three-and-a-half years at that time.’

What exactly is the fkin plan?? Are these people that blind with their fake love for Ole as a manager? I just don’t get it. We know preciously what will happen come the end of the season. Why do we continue to be “hopeful” for a fairytale outcome? Let’s just continue the same thing and hope that something will flip our way. This gets me riled!!
